  1. Just thought of another one: Creative. They make computer sound cards amongst other things. They own the EMU synthesizer brand too. Anyway they released 'driver updates' for their soundcards that made them sound a bit crappy so that people would upgrade... **** em. Asus Xonar now for me.
  2. Surely it's only a boycott if you do like their coffee, but are abstaining for other reasons? I guess it's a bit more than that. Kind of the Budweiser syndrome; Great branding, very customer focussed, excellent distribution/availability. All in all a very slick customer experience. With a **** godawful product. I guess I have to give the credit for having the balls to try to raise the bar of coffee in this country, as they used to be so much better than the shite that was on offer before. Things have moved on and they haven't. It's almost like now that they have got their branding and positioning they can serve up any kind of crap and people will suck it up
  3. You guys are reminding me of more... Anything that profits Rupert Murdoch: The Times, The Sun, Sky. The Daily Mail. A force for evil. Starbucks. Way before the whole tax thing blew up I boycotted them because their coffee is **** awful. Like 8pints' dad, anyone that sponsors small heath.
  4. Currys/Dixons - Sold me a printer years ago with no print cartridge. Took me 6 months of going into the store nearly every day until they gave me a 'free' cartridge. ****. Oh, and Apple, just because they are nasty scumbags.
  5. I'm going to a talk on the 10th in Soho about Scientology. It's being done by John Sweeney, the chap who lost his rag with them on camera. Any London based people who want to go, link here: http://sohoapril.eventbrite.co.uk/
  6. Yeah they are great. I order online from my local curry house which is about 6 doors away. It's so much better when you can write down what you want and your address, rather than spend 15 minutes on the phone repeating yourself and them then getting it wrong anyway. Just for the record, I do actually get off my arse and pick it up myself...
  7. If you want some pictures of wounds I have many that I can post. I'm not some crazy internet fetishist though, I used to work in woundcare. There are some lovely photos, do you wanna see em? Do ya?
  8. I wonder if our players forgot that we changed ends at half time?
  9. Strap Bannan on the front of a forklift Drive him to the airport load him onto a B-1 Nuclear Bomber Drop him on **** North Korea He'd miss.
  10. I think Bannan should stop playing for Scotland. The more time he spends with the Scotland team, the more his confidence drops and the more his mistakes increase.
  11. N4 owner here. I think you'll be doing the right thing Col. Bear in mind that the Google event where they launch the new OS and phone is May 15th -17th, so if she wants to sell it on, make sure she does it before then: The price will drop once the new one is launched, and in the weeks leading up to the launch demand will drop. I really love my N4 and the thing that surprised me most about it is the smooth curved glass on the sides. 2 months in and I still stroke it.
  12. I've got this: It sounds like a kids thing, but is proper geeky grownups stuff. Had it about a year and it's the only novelty one I've ever had.
  13. He totally authorised it, look, here's an email I sent him.
  14. For the phones themselves, have a look here. (You may notice a comment with a familiar avatar). There are links at the bottom for previous months' versions of the same article. Galaxy Ace 2 is, um, ace. I'm not up to speed on deals.
  15. Dunno where to start with this, it just makes me so angry. Like pornodwarf hasn't got any cash, he'll happily take millions from one of the most deprived areas in London. It's Leyton Orient's turf and football league/FA rules state you can't move onto another team's turf. Unless you've got loads of cash of course. My understanding of the athletics track is that there will be seats that slide out to cover it, which sounds rather implausible. Anyways, the Freakonomics guys looked at all the stats for home advantage in football and the only definite they could find was the distance between the fans and the pitch. As soon as you stick in an athletics track home advantage all but disappears.
  16. This might shatter Rob's illusions. The Beach Boys pre autotune:
  17. I am a couch potato, but my mate runs a website where he advises people about how to work out and organise your diet. All the info on his site is there for free, but if you need encouragement/one to one email/phone support you can employ him as your trainer/mentor. He's in Osaka, but he'm a Brummie ayit. http://rippedbody.jp/
  18. My mate used to be training officer for the marines on DG. Jammy bastard. Anyway, back on topic...Re the Falklands one needs to start looking forward, not back. If you look backwards you can find justification for pretty much any territorial dispute. Shall we talk about Northern Ireland? Or Ulster? Or Ireland? How about Brittany? Or Spain's claim to the Netherlands? Or the Scots (tribe, not country) claim to Ireland? Or Alex **** Salmond and his ego trip to independence? Perhaps we should talk about Israel? Or Palestine? No, how about North Africans' and Arabs' claim to Spain? What needs to happen is the politicians getting off their high horses, dialling down the ego and working out what's best for the people involved.
  19. When I read about 'leaks' I equate them to 'ITK'
  20. They are supposed to be working on the "X Phone" which will be the next Nexus, or maybe the one after that. Will it be Google branded or Motorola? Don't care really as long as it's not shit.
  21. Assume that it will take 200% longer than you 'reasonably' think. Also assume that it will end up costing you more than you 'reasonably' expect with regards to additional expenses: mortgage booking fees, surveys, solicitors removals, new bits for the new house. If it's an old house, don't expect it to be snag free - some things you just have to suck up. Also talk to an IFA about the mortgage. Julie on here or I can heartily recommend my Godson's dad Patrick. Absolutely trustworthy. By all means talk to your bank, but talk to an IFA too.
  22. Back on topic then... Tonight: beer in Hackney with the lovely (really!) people I volunteer with. Tomorrow: Lunch in Ely with mater for Mothers' Day, then beer and food in Shoreditch to celebrate/commiserate my birthday. Sunday: sleep all day and eat crap food. Distinct possibility of Civ
  23. In what ways is Civ V better than its predecessors? Umm, well, better graphics obviously. They've also fixed various annoyances, but introduced new ones. As to things that I prefer, well there's no stacking of units and it's on a hex map which gives more realistic zones of control. Cities have rudimentary defences so you can leave them without a unit in and they can survive. You don't have to load units in to ships to move them over water, you just move them on to water and they become 'embarked'; basically less tedious logisitcs. Various other bits that I can't think of right now. Oh yeah, mods are easy to choose, install and use. Anyway, I'm on 1646 hours now...
