  1. You gotta think in 4 dimensions with this team. e.g. Heskey runs them ragged for ages without scoring, then he comes off for Gabby who then proceeds to clean up against a tired, managerless and out of form league two defence.
  2. Here is a link to the TED talk about the origins of the stage show puppets. Pretty impressive. And no, I won't be going to see the film either.
  3. Awesome recording of a chap on my local bus (The 242 in London). Communicating with dead people? I'm sure it just a coincidence that the first stop is right outside the mental health unit.
  4. Get a dishwasher. And live on your own. Sorted.

    Do you read?

@ Mike and Rodders Have you read Graham Greene's The 3rd Man? Set in immediate post war Vienna, which was split into sectors just like Berlin. Beautifully written. Very atmospheric. Of course there's also the film with Orson Welles, but read the book! The short story 'The Fallen Idol' is kinda creepy too.
  6. You could always, y'know, stick to the speed limits...
  7. Mike, re Dickens... I thought it was just me, thank you. Though I disagree on the 2 dimensional characters bit though. One at most.
  8. When I used to have a job I often felt the same. Right now my income is £50 a week, with no end in sight.
  9. This. Best thing though is watching the girls behind them pointing and laughing.
  10. Anyone who *wants* to be a head of state should be automatically disqualified. The only alternative is being born into it or the suggestion above as a kind of year long compulsory jury service, although the sacrifice at the end could maybe come through some kind of phone in poll on Talksport.
  11. It does work. It takes a while to kick in tho - a few weeks. They key though is that in order to 'get better' you should have a mix of pills and different types of therapy, ie a program of sorts. Pills by themselves will have an effect, but are kind of a waste of time on their own. Like a plaster cast without crutches. See your GP and ask for a comprehensive going over. Ooer etc.
  12. Late to this one. Dante my good fellow, yup, it's crap.*High Five*. Umm, you've shared it with us, which I guess was your first step. Much wisdom above my post, but I guess the key is go to your GP: he/she will not sort your stuff out, but their job is to point you the right way. PM me for confidential advice: I've been hospitalised twice through it and have come out the other side a happier and more effective chap.
  13. Rare semi serious post from me... I live in Hackney on Chatsworth Road. I've been part of the traders and residents association for a while. We're pretty lucky that all the shops on the street are independent; no chains at all. A year ago we restarted the market and it's been a great success. Mary Said: It's basically a really pleasant place to visit now. Rather than going to the mall for a coffee, people stay in the community, which strengthens it as we get to know each other, and also the money stays in the community too. Re free parking every situation is different: eg our street is a busy road and a bus route. Nearly all the parking is metered. What would help us would be for there to be more short stay (eg 20 mins) free spots so that the people driving through could stop off and pick up bits of groceries, a newspaper or a takeaway. Our association is putting together a neighbourhood plan to try to manage regeneration the way the community want, rather than the way the Council thinks we want, or a developer wants. It's been used as a good example case study in the Portas report... The report is very good; acknowledges many small businesses are badly run or haven't adapted their business model.
  14. Miami is ace! I went there on holiday once. Admittedly, it was only South Beach, which seems to be quite distinct from Miami proper. It was a little bit... gay, but dead nice. Do it, or move to Brum to be near your beloved.
  15. Seeing that Wiggy has posted in the amusing gifs thread.

Yeah, but if I'm on the phone it takes me ages to go backwards and forwards between Tweetdeck and VT. If the VT name is in the profile it's just one really quick click and glance.

Hello everyone. Would be useful if y'all put your VT username in your profile, cos then I'd know who you are and stuff.
  18. What make is it? I have a Worcester Bosch one and I get them to service it - you pay a bit more, but hey guarantee to sort it out, so if it isn't fixed they'll come back and fix it for no extra charge. Friend had a similar experience with Potterton boilers; same service. So, in short, try the manufacturer.
  19. You have my respect. I hope he appreciates the sacrifice you're making!
  20. When an MP got done on Clapham common one evening for soliciting gay sex. "Bandits at six o'clock"

    Halloween

Not fussed either way myself but my ex's kids loved it. Apparently you only knock on the door of a house with a pumpkin in the window/out the front - you're supposed to leave people alone otherwise. So if you have a front door and you don't want trick or treaters, don't put a pumpkin out. And when they knock on the door anyway, tell them the rules. Nicely...
  22. Bloomsbury bowl is a good shout. Cheap beer too, especially considering how central it is.
  23. I remember ripping that show from iplayer and converting it to mp3 for him. I enjoyed the show and ended up phoning in myself the following night. Also bought a Pure Evoke Flow mostly on his recommendation. Rest in peace old chap.
  24. How about hiding your children with international statesmen?
