  1. I'm on t-mobile PAYG, which is kinda the same as Orange nowadays. Ish. Anyway I pay £20 for 6 months internet: Click 'internet boosters': http://www.t-mobile.co.uk/shop/mobile-phones/price-plans/pay-as-you-go/boosters/ Fair use policy:http://www.t-mobile.co.uk/services/uk/fairuse/
  2. Come on Conor! It's been 20 hours! What gives? I want an update on how you're finding it...
  3. Only note of caution with the Nexus 4 is the build quality - LG aren't renowned for rock solid products. I hope they've upped their game.
  4. Oh, ok then, last year's Blade. Reasonable deal though. What would be this year's equivalent then I wonder? And where to get it?
  5. Huawei Ascend G300 from Very £99, but... You can get a tenner off for new customers if you enter "2CCPC" as the voucher code. Also, you can get free delivery to your local store. It's an excellent rootable budget android phone, with plenty of ROMs available. This year's ZTE Blade.
  6. NFC = No **** Clue Kidding. As the Rev already knows, I've just installed Jellybean on my rather old ZTE Blade (Orange San Francisco). The difference is huge. Much snappier, much quicker. e.g. Swype closes instantly now whereas before it would take up to 10 seconds to disappear. Maps is smooooth. Anyway, I am excite.
  7. Haven't been here for ages, but thought I'd come and have a look at the new site. Is nice. Simon done good. And that's cheered me up.
  8. SD cards - if you have an app installed on it you can't use widgets 1)Installing apps on SD becomes less necessary as internal storage increases 2)No SD means that widgets just work, rather than sometimes working - i.e. a more seamless UX Moving stuff around Do you guys have ES File Explorer? Can browse/copy/cut from network. Also acts as dropbox/google drive/microsoft cloud client

    Linux Server

Thanks Levi. No, I can't get a shell from my version of FreeNAS. Also, that screenshot is from a beta version I think - I don't have the 'i' help information clickies. I've set up ssh as above and... I can't log in. I'm really close to binning this POS. It wouldn't be quite so bad if the documentation for each version was separate and not mixed all together. It wouldn't be quite so bad if it was clear and unambiguous. It wouldn't be quite so bad if someone on the official forum responded to my requests for help etc etc.

All guests, no logins. It seems to be files created by the macs that are an issue, but not always. You can configure file permissions on the front end, but the problem I have is that the help/wiki seems to be out of date, or at least insconsistent, or it signposts you part way then assumes a level of knowledge I don't really have...

Mwah, love you really Tegis x x x It's seriously doing my head in. Any suggestions?

No, no 'console' button and not able to view files that way either. I did find a box (Zeroconf share discovery) that you're supposed to tick if you're accessing the thing with Macs (which some people are). Don't think it's got anything to do with file deletion/non deletion though. I blame that Tegbrink fellow. Gives me a recommendation then buggers off.

    Freeview HD

Yeah, that one's got SCART and aerial out. Would display at all? Would the HD be noticeable I wonder?

    Linux Server

Yeah, Levi's right, it's using FreeBSD. I'm using CIFS for sharing. Is that Samba? Think so. I can log in to the pretty front end via my browser, but how would I go about accessing the console to try your suggestion Simon? I have putty, would that work? I'm not really a linux bod as you may be able to tell...

    Freeview HD

I got a question for you kids, especially seeing as the boxes are now so cheap (good spot Nays) How would HD content show up on an old CRT? It's just that a mate of mine is looking to replace a recently deceased FV box, but has an old CRT. I'm wondering whether it's worth getting one of the above boxes, for future proofing if nothing else...

Took yer bloody time replying Simon. The answer is... yes. So what do I need to change?

    Linux Server

Right then, I've set it up and it's been running happily for a while, but there's an issue that I can't resolve. For some reason some files just aren't deleteable. Here's the link to my q on the forum. If anyone has an answer I'd appreciate it because what I have so far ain't clear...
  18. seeing Mike's post made me wonder, where's Levi these days?
  19. Ah, but this is better:
  20. Call them immediately. Ie before end of the working day. Shows initiative and they'll remember you.
  21. Well quite. Hence the irony of Charlie Brooks claiming it's a witch hunt.
  22. Hello Charlie! Have to admit you've lost me there. Oh, Rebekah's husband Charlie has made a statement that it's a witch hunt. It's not, of course. She'll get a fair trial.
  23. Hi Tony, should you decide to pay someone, is it ok if we pitch for all/part of it? Here's our portfolio. Drop me a pm if you think it might be worth exploring.
  24. The way I do it is that I have ES File Explorer installed on my phone. With it I can browse the network and copy files back and forth. It can also stream media. For video playback I use MX Video Player for everything. For Music/AudioI have the built in Android music app as my default player; basically for anything stored on my phone. For streaming though I use the one that is part of ES File Explorer. I do this by long pressing on the file (or selection of files) and selecting 'music' It then gets opened in the ES Music player (which is a little flaky tbh, but pretty good nonetheless). The advantage to this way is that you don't have to mess around with setting up/configuring/refreshing media servers. ES File Explorer is bloody ace.
