  1. Not doubting the statistics but we were 16th when Dean left and currently we are 15th so how are we 11th in the league since Gerrard came in? We weren't that far adrift under Dean were we? Maths is a funny old bastard
  2. Yes, we need to be flexible in our signings and not just caught up on the chase of particular players. Until you get to the very top of the pile player wise there are a lot of options.
  3. What ever you think of our wingers the fact is that the squad is set up to play with wide forwards, including spending £65m on two only last summer. That is one, of several, reasons why employing Gerrard as our manager was an odd choice. But he's here so now every thing rests on us having a summer to end all summers in terms of signing the players Gerrard needs to implement how he wants us to play. History suggests that buying in the 5 (or about that i'd guess) players needed and them all being a success is highly unlikely. Let's keep everything crossed as I think we are going to need to be very lucky
  4. Improving players rather than just buying a load of new ones and hoping for the best? That's not the Villa way my friend.
  5. Let's hope. History would suggest the more time he gets with the current squad the worse we get.
  6. Nah, we will win at least one more game before the season is done. Whoopee.
  7. Every time I watch City I wonder how Fernandinho doesn't get more red cards. He could get booked three or four times every match.

    Louie Barry

Gerrard will be gone, one way or another, before Barry is ready for the first team so I wouldn't worry about it
  9. He is.. and, fingers crossed, hopefully they'll let him carry on doing those 'wonders' next season as well!
  10. Am I right in thinking that without Reading and Derby's point deductions SHA would be in the relegation zone? And they think we're lucky!
  11. Yep, loan out the youth, no point having them hanging around if they are not getting a chance
  12. Well, I for one, am hoping that Gerrard is a good cheque book manager as he doesn't appear to be a tactical/ player improving/ youth promoting manager. It is very important that all his signings improve us immediately.
  13. I quite often do those 'name the starting Villa eleven v..' quizzes, our turn over in players is immense already! Not sure my old brain can cope with doing it every summer!
  14. Coutinho yes. Digne yet to see anything to get excited by. Chambers better than Konsa, but so is my Nan.
  15. Let's all cross every thing we can then!
  16. You are correct, the result wasn't on Gerrard. We were always likely to lose this no matter what he did and but for shit defending and shit finishing we would have made a real game of it. I do wonder how long he can carry on losing though before it just becomes too much. Leicester next and if we lose that then the pressure to get something against Norwich will be massive for Gerrard.
  17. I feel the same way. This season has been a real damp squib and don't think next will be much better, if at all.
  18. That's why I said 'hoped'. I didn't actually criticise Gerrard at all.
  19. He'll get until Christmas. Let's hope he hasn't spunked too much on his old Liverpool mates by that point.
  20. Whilst I'm not going to blame Gerrard for today's defeat, I do wonder how many games he gets to lose before the board start to wonder about their choices.
  21. Yay! Ashley Young! It's 'why the hell did we let Target go' time
  22. Not sure what Gerrard said at half time but I'm going to assume it wasn't go and play like a bunch of sad sacks
