I do wonder if Emery might use him as a right back eventually? Didn't Emery use a centre back at right back at Villarreal? It allowed for a very attacking left back and for the defence to turn into a three at the back situation when Emery's team had the ball.

Although that did coincide with McGinn getting injured so it will be interesting to see who he picks as a starter once they are both fit. My feeling is it will be a horses for courses situation and they will play pretty much equal time.

It's going to take time and a change of playing personnel to get to where Emery wants us. I think having a bitch and moan a handful of games in is probably too soon.

I'm off to London today with my wife for the first time for a while. Last time I went was the day of the 3-2 loss to Wolves which pretty much ended Deano's stint. I'm blaming this for my sense of foreboding about the game

I think Emery likes him, likes his work rate and his over contribution. He's started popping up for goals and also creates chances. His biggest problem is misplaced passes, not the attempted defence splitters, but the simple ten yard ones. It must be a concentration thing. Currently Buendia (and McGinn) are our best options in the advanced midfielder roles. Until we sign better, or JJ and Coutinho step up, then they will be starting.

I think it's probably more a making room exercise. We can only register a certain amount of players in the squad.

I'm fine with us selling Ings as long as we have a deal in place to bring in a younger forward of better quality otherwise we are just leaving ourselves stupidly short upfront

I disagree about the Leeds game. I would say JJ was probably the worst player on the pitch on Friday (not having a go, he was returning from injury lay off and didn't look ready) Nothing stuck, his passing was very poor and the game completely passed him by. I think McGinn would have suited the game much better and we missed him as a result

Look forward to seeing the lad develop, he looks like he offers a few things we don't have up front, namely pace and ability in the air. With a bit of luck he'll be getting it over the White Lines into the back of net. And he's Columbian. So White Lines. I'm crap at puns

I think our fans took relegation with a shrugging acceptance born of the fact that we had circled the bowl for ages and were ripe for it. The disconnect to the club had become so massive that relegation failed to anger the vast majority of the fan base. Everton probably do need a reset of some sort as the fans expectations at that club are way above what the club ever achieves.

I didn't really care which of Man City or Arsenal won the league this season. Then, following the Stevenage debacle, one of my Arsenal 'supporting' friends texted to rip the piss. Considering only a couple of seasons ago he said he no longer followed football and he has only seen Arsenal three times, twice of which were bus top celebrations (genuinely!) I am now all in on Man City clawing it back so I can taste his salty tears!
