  1. I'd just go for it, play 2 up top with 2 wingers, old fashioned and outdated perhaps but we all know what happens when Bent is up top alone and isolated. 4-4-2/4-2-4. Guzan Hutton Okore Vlaar Cissokho Gabby Westwood Delph N'Zogbia Weimann Bent Subs; Given, Senderos, Bacuna, KEA, Grealish, Richardson, Cole if fit (if not Gardner)
  2. Random fact, that Gavin Chesterfield (Barry Town manager) was my university lecturer last year. Nice bloke, did not once mention Barry all year despite the shit he must of been going through over the course of the season either.
  3. Lee Clark 2/1 fav to be next championship manager gone. Keith Curle 3/1 fav for the job.
  4. In the South American group for world cup qualifying tomorrow night, 3rd and 4th placed Chile and Ecuador play each other, with both teams on 25 points, and 5th placed Uruguay on 22 points, with one game remaining. A draw between Chile and Ecuador would see both nations qualify for the world cup regardless of Uruguay or anyone elses result. Admittedly its not great odds, but the draw is 8/13, and I would say lump big time on that. I remember the last time I lumped on something like this, when Brugge played Braga in SHA's europa league, when a draw meant both teams would qualify at SHA's expense. Low and behold, it finished 1-1. Nailed on. EDIT - or not. finished 2-1 Chile. £80 i wont see again
  5. Easily the most annoying bit of the game: "Kifflom, brother brother"
  6. Isn't N'zogbia injured for a long time? Could be the reason why he has a 'high' number and not that were shifting him out...
  7. Lost 4-2 to Shrewsbury tonight. Although this would be a lot funnier had we not just lost at Luton
  8. Schoolboy defending, friendly or not
  9. Who'll be leading the line for this one? I know we're missing Benteke, Helenius and Weimann. Is Gabby fit? I imagine it'll be Bowery for some part of the game and Burke for the remainder
  10. Barry, Milner, Downing, Young now Benteke. Does it really matter what price we get for him £20mill, £30mill, £80mill. What'll happen if we re-invest that money on players and we discover another gem who bangs in 20 goals? We'll lose him too after a year or two. Never ending cycle
  11. Apologies if someone has already mentioned this as I cannot be bothered to read 6 pages to look for it, But Paul Lambert has played 3 won 3 against Brendan Rodgers teams in the premier league. He clearly knows how to play against this particular style. However being realistic Liverpool are, on their day, a fantastic team and much much better than villa. Our strengths lie in attacking, we put 3 past qpr last time out and 3 against these last time we played them. Game plan MUST be go for the jugular from minute one and just outscore them, because we won't contain them and suarez will murder our back 4. 2-2
  12. Everyone nailed redknapp last week at VP, everyone on here calling him this that and the other. Yet when it comes to England the guys a saint and people like the chap who just posted are desperate to get him in? Do me a favour.
  13. ---------------Guzan Lowton---Clarke---Baker---Bennett -------Westwood---KEA --Weimann---Nzogbia---Gabby --------------Benteke Bench: given, lichaj, sylla, ireland, bannan, dawkins, bowery That's assuming vlaar and bent are still injured. The bench worries me. A lot. Other than Ireland i personally wouldn't bring anyone on but unfortunately those are our only options. If those two are fit, vlaar center half, baker lb, bennett sub in place of bannan. Bent sub in place of dawkins.
  14. Add to that Holman v qpr Clark v Newcastle Lowton v swansea. So 3 from midfield, 2 from defence. Pathetic.
  15. Nzogbias FK v west ham El ahmadi v everton Erm...
  16. Castle bromwich where i live, and the majority of its surrounding areas (chelmsley, kingshurst, shard end etc) is absolutely vast majority blues, unfortunately. It seems to me like castle vale and north from there is villa. Whilst everywhere south from there is blues. "the m6 divide"
  17. They have sheffield wednesday and peterborough next, they lose those two and they really are in the shit
  18. As someone said previously, music is obviously massively subjective and opinion will always be divided. Chances are your never going to get the 50 year old contemporary rock loving villa fan to agree with an 18 year old hip hop loving villa fan. But with that being said, i thought both the foo fighters, black Sabbath tunes were crap and definitely not good entrance music. As for the bells are ringing, and the actual church bells that were played, id be happy if i never heard them again in my life. Anywhere. The faithless tune yes is good, yes it gets the blood pumping, but baggies had it for ages, id rather be original. I wouldn't mind the return of the fanfare, used to get the hairs on your neck stood on end, it even went well with the countdown. Bring it back!
  19. Pussies. **** useless, spineless, shit **** clearings in the woods. Not a set of bollocks between them. Just **** off down to the championship now villa.
  20. I hope he does a job, and an extra option can't be a bad thing. But we've signed a player from Tottenham who i bet 90% of Tottenham fans have never heard of. Its all hugely underwhelming to say the least
  21. Rangers will never be allowed to move to the English league and quite rightly too, if they move then Celtic will want to, as will motherwell, as will hearts etc etc. Scudamore came out and said recently that its for English and Welsh clubs only and that's that. Personally i don't think Welsh clubs should be allowed in either but hey ho. Having said that, imo i think the league cup should be done away with. Its a half arsed cup where half arsed clubs field half arsed teams in front of empty stadiums. And in its place should be brought in a sort of home nations cup where English league clubs, Scottish prem 1,2 and 3 clubs and Welsh prem clubs can all enter. It'd give a tired old cup competition a lift and football in this country something fresh. Imagine villa get berwick or inverness away, it'd be great for teams like that in terms of revenue and great for us for a day out. It'll never ever happen like but ah well
  22. Just got back from the game, this lad was appauling. I don't want to start effing and blinding at him because he got enough of that from our own fans tonight, and laying into him won't help. It isn't his fault we signed him and it isn't his fault we've no decent left back. He just quite simply isn't good enough, i say this without malice but easily the worst player I've seen for the villa. Have said this for weeks now. His defending is shocking, gets beat like he's not even there. Im sure he isn't a left back, could probably do better converted to a winger, but not at this club. He is league 1/league 2 standard at the very maximum
  23. Upper holds 4000 and the lower is never open for 'safety' reasons
