  1. What does this argument even mean? Isn't it just the same argument as saying if you are british and weren't at the marches the other day you acquiesce? Because you haven't made a public declaration? I condemn a lot of things on VT that I wont be making a public declaration on. Does that mean I'm also in this group of acquiessence? I'm not sure of the point you're trying to make. Soft Power is surely often the least problematic. Why would supporters of them condemn them? - they're supporters of them. I'm obviously pretty vocal on this site about bias in the media. And I don't believe there is much healthy criticism in our media of the state of Israel either, but then I obviously don't agree with the absolutisms in your post and if im really honest, I flat out dislike the puppet masters of fleet street inference. It's just massively oversimplifying the situation and I can see little reason to do so other than to continually 'not get' what people are saying to you about the way you're choosing to word your posts. Our intelligence communities, Industrial Military Complexes and so on are interwoven. There's a shared agenda on the international stage. None of that suggests a controlling hand from the end of the Med. That we have built a world of global information corporations has little to do with the condemnation (or not) of Israel. There's a lesson there in where the real power lies in our political system but I don't think it's the one you're trying to make. When though?

  5. So I've been thinking on this pehaps more than I shoud have bothered, (it's not knowing about the reason for the shocked reaction really ) but it's been a rainy week nailing tiles on and I've had the time. Even had a chat with MrsVM about it. But It's obviously not about a law of averages nor is it a probability puzzle, we considered chaos theory, but in the end we went for dunno. So what is it, the doing something a million times incorrectly but inadvertantly doing it right one time?
  6. Leaving out Moby Dick seems kinda perverse really from my own list but they have so many great songs to pick from. I'm not sure I'd leave Toad off my top ten Cream songs for example but then it's a smaller body of work to pick from.

  9. Another example of why I dislike the use of group identities, I think it's criminals we don't like in our society, not the kidz of today. Kids are great.
  10. It's that age old political soundbite slogan isn't it, "Tough on crime, but not giving a flying **** about actually ever really considering or addressing the causes of crime"
  11. It'd be funny if it wasn't a really serious and worrying step in the wrong direction. Conceived of by psychopaths and sociopaths. Enabled by sychophants and fools.
  12. something something probability
  13. There was a great documentary, I think it was nominated for the oscars amongst other accolades, called 5 Broken Cameras that I've probably mentioned years ago in this thread. Well worth a watch.
