  1. Very true, Gok "theunderstudy" Wan. Actually, you do look a bit like him. Just less Chinese
  2. Agreed. If you're wearing blue jeans, and want to wear shoes, then it has to be a brown pair. Black shoes and blue jeans looks shit.
  3. Perhaps, but I don't see how they can identify with being Italian more when they've basically lived in England their whole lives. Fair enough if they'd lived a decent chunk of their lives in Italy, and then the rest in England, but they haven't. Even if their parents do force Italian culture down their throats, once they step out the front door, they're no longer in this faux Italian bubble, they're back in England again. The fact that none of them can speak Italian properly says to me that they've got no claim whatsoever to being Italian.
  4. My one of my close friends has a group of mates who have Italian heritage (not distant admittedly; at least one of each of their respective parents was born and raised in Italy). However, the chaps in question, were all born and raised in the UK. They've spent their whole lives here, were schooled here, and remain here until this very day (they're all now 29/30). They've been to Italy a fair bit due to having family there. They also speak a little bit of the language, but none of them are fluent. What nationality do they claim to be? English; any sensible person would think! Nope! Italian. Who do they support though when there's a major sporting tournament? England? Oh, of course not. Italy. :? How the **** they can have such a claim to be Italian as opposed to English is beyond me.
  5. Xela and Tony are wise men. **** Europe for a lads holiday, seriously. Go further a field to places like Thailand or the Philippines: it's much more of an adventure, the beaches/islands are better, and they're not full of English chavs. If you're only 18/19 and/or never experienced a lads holiday then going to places like Malia is something I guess you have to do first, but once you've done it, and you're a bit older, I'd definitely start expanding your horizons. As Xela said - the nightlife in places like Bangkok, Manila/Makati etc is **** amazing. Beats the shit of the poxy lads holiday hotspots we have in Europe. (Although saying that, Ibiza is **** quality as long as you go to the right places and avoid the main strip in San Antonio town)
  6. That's not a bad idea actually Is that what you'll be doing as well?
  7. Nike. They **** up, but I can't see it happening again.
  8. Definitely this. Young on the wing and Heskey supporting Bent. As Makoun wasn't quite fit for the Wigan game, I'd like to put him in with NRC to see how he gets on playing alongside him again.
  9. This isn't like you DVIN. Getting lazy these days?!!? Here's the article in full: Link.
  10. And that's saying something considering we've had threads on "What song you listening to right now" and "Word Assocation".
  11. Great thread. It should be put in the Hall of Fame - it's more than worthy of a place there.
  12. Just a quick "hello" to new VT member - clearing_in_the_woods.
  13. Agreed. If he keeps this up then we're going to have a very special player on our hands.
  14. Such as this one? Does Gérard Houllier meet with your approval as manager this past month? Liverpool was December, tonights game is February and the future cant be January. P.S Houlston, you might need to read back from page one to see what I'm getting at. :winkold:
  15. Given that I think we'll lose tonight, I didn't like his actions at Anfield, and I haven't got a clue how he'll do in the future.....I've voted no. :bonk:
  16. You'd think not. Gringo did try to make it 'tard proof, but it appears people are still failing to understand the idea of the poll.
  17. Oh well, Andy - better luck next time.
  18. Hi General, Are you able to give us any information on Nigel Reo Coker's situation? I understand he's out of contract in the summer and I was wondering if there's been any recent dialogue between Nigel and the Club with regards to him signing an extension to his contract? Thanks in advance.
  19. We spend £24M on a striker only for Downing to ignore him and hit a piss weak shot straight at the keeper instead!
  20. The problem with this is that it's not really a sing-a-long anthem. It would just be us shouting "VILLA" over some loud music. Not only that, we've already got something similar(ish) at the moment. VILLA clap clap clap Villa clap clap clap Villa.......
  21. You're right in saying the club can't just give us a song and ask us to sing it. That approach is too forced. I think for this to work, it would need a decent-sized group of fans to start singing it (e.g Brigada 1874). They'd have to keep persisting with it, and I think it would be a massive struggle at first, but it may eventually catch on. It won't work if people sit in their seat at VP and grumpily dismiss it, thinking "this won't work". The more people that get involved, the more it will encourage others to sing along. I'm sure the whole KOP never just stood there one Saturday and suddenly erupted into a rendition of "You'll never walk alone". I guess it was a very slow process whereby some of the fans started to sing it, others noticed and gradually started to sing along, and eventually it became their anthem. FWIW, although 'Stand By Me' has nothing to do with Villa, I think it would be amazing if you had most of the ground singing along to it, flags and scarves raised. It would add an amazing atmosphere to VP. It won't work, though. We're Brummies. We're too miserable to get something like this going.
  22. Agreed, but maybe sing Da Da Da Da Da Da Da Daaaa, rather than Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Naaaa.
  23. Comedy! Please be true. My supermodel girlfriend has just left me, but I've found someone to replace her.
