  1. Very rarely do papers print stories about football without someone they know from the club or an agent giving them information. A lot of the time, it's a bloke from the club making something up or an agent making up interest in a player to generate further interest I would imagine people are jumping on the Sun's story becuase they are aware the Sun have a reliable link.
  2. I've worded if badly. They already own a sports company in Switzerland and already have a 20% stake in Ath. Madrid. They are looking to invest in the tour de France but there should be a 3rd major investment and I'm speculating that it could be us. I would think it would be in England at least. Plus if they get us to the prem we could be used as an effective marketing tool for everything they're starting around Europe
  3. Looking into the Wanda group, they have announced there will be 5 major investments this year, 3 coming outside of China. The first is the purchase of Paramount pictures, to go with their own movie company, the second is investing in the Europacity thing happening in Paris by 2024. The third is speculatively sport linked. Villa isn't mentioned, it talks about the 20% stake in Athletico, buying some Swiss sports company and showing interest in the tour de France. Whilst this article is apparently speculating, everything else it guessed to do with the Wanda group has since happened so they seem to know something BUT MAYBE US???
  4. I don't think it matters if we want Pearson or not. He is currently hot property as the team he built is top of the table. It's giving him a pedestal that should not be there for him, so his next move is crucial. If he screws up the next job, he's a poor manager who had a very good Leicester team and only just avoided relegation with them. If he does well, he's a top manager. For this reason, I don't think he'll go to Forest as they are a bit of a messa behind the scenes. The same can be said of us, only worse and much more uncertainty. I think he'll end up at Derby, and if he does we'll have to pick our option 2. If Rowett goes there instead, which is highly likely, will he play russian roulette with his career and come to us? Or will he wait for a better opportunity, like he has been doing for the last 12 months?
  5. I'm surprised that more people aren't talking about the Middlesbrough manager. Plays a decent style of football and has attracted big names to the championship. Plus with the whole "I'm leaving/no I'm not" situation he's clearly not settled. Could do a lot worse. Whoever we get, I want them on a rolling contract. Stop handing out 3year deals to 4 month managers
  6. Well I realise that. I guess I just want all of those players to be made available for sale and then whoever remains will become a part of the team to push for our promotion. I worded it badly. :S
  7. Wrote a blog about this. I want exactly what I've put to happen but I think we'll end up being stuck with a few of the players, which is fine, they'll just have to stay and play a part prideofwitton.wordpress.com
  8. Think the Lindegaard rumour is a typo. Supposed to be Lingard, as in the Utd youngster who scored a worldie in the championship a season or 2 ago. Would be a good signing if it was permanent imo
  9. Not sure if / where I'm allowed to post this, assumed this was the best place to go. Started up a blog, i'm a Uni student in Derby. This article just states my thoughts on relegation really. If any of you wouldn't mind having a look, that would be awesome. If you like it, keep checking back because I'm going to be contributing at least once a week. If this isn't allowed then feel free to get rid of it Mods. https://prideofwitton.wordpress.com/2016/01/26/what-is-worst-case-scenario/
  10. The makings of a solid home-grown championship team there. Add a bit of sparkle to that lot and we shouldn't have too many issues coming back up
  11. Don't wanna play RB Richards? Well tough poo. That's where you were effective when you were good and that's where we need you. Now show the same passion on the pitch that you do in the stands after getting subbed off
  12. One of my favourite memories of relegation battles was West Brom staying up in 2005. They were bottom of the league at half time on the final day of the season! But they survived. And the winning goal came from a young lad on loan from Manchester United, called Keiran Richardson... I want to believe
  13. It's the hope that kills you...
  14. We have a 50% win ratio when this lad starts. And he's started once. He is the saviour. Step aside Traore
  15. Where's Joe Bennett when you need him most?
  16. Gil hasn't been Villa's best player. He's been the best player on the pitch full stop

    New manager

I hope this isn't seen as shameless self-advertising, it probably is but I'd be posting the exact same stuff on here anyway. I think it's gonna be Remi Garde, but my choice would be Martin Jol. I did some research into it and here's why... https://ikorraks.wordpress.com/2015/10/29/why-martin-jol-should-be-aston-villas-next-manager/

    New manager

Dunno if I'm allowed but I've written my first blog for uni on Remi Garde and why I don't think he's a good option. If any of you are interested here it is. Be putting a few villa bits up every week or 2. Cheers ikorraks.wordpress.com
  19. I dunno whether I'm most excited, or potentially just most intrigued, by Veretout and Ayew. Think they have potential and I'm waiting to see THAT match where they show everyone just what they can do.
  20. In terms of my OCD, the window couldn't have ended on a worse note. Loaning Bennett out gave us a 25 man squad, then we had to sign a young exciting defender to upset the applecart
  21. Even if the De Gea deal goes through, they'll have navas who's a good keeper. I think the major losses they've had this transfer window are Di Maria and RVP. Memphis takes up one of those gaps, so they're not much worse off than last season at all. I do think they're going backwards but I don't think it's an implosion Not directly responding to you, just general comments about reactions to man United transfer window
