  1. I watched that whole game again a few months ago. I remember thinking we could nick a point at the time, it was weird to see it again knowing what was about to happen. Thank **** for Guzan too.
  2. I actually thought Makoun was good, just unlucky with the timing of his arrival. He was about the size of something Sanchez would get stuck in his teeth though so I don't think they're really comparable.
  3. Maybe it's just linked to his gravatar.
  4. This is the instagram pic: #WhatAControlTho
  5. Benteke will be back within a month and when he is Jonas, Nilmar and Almeida wouldn't get a look in, especially when Kozak comes back too. If it is even possible to have too many creative midfielders, we're nowhere near that situation yet IMO.
  6. All of the players you listed are strikers (apart from Ronaldinho). We don't need a striker. I'm not so sure they're a lot better than D'Agostino either (apart from Ronaldinho).
  7. And non of them seem to be singing from the same hymn sheet.
  8. It would be nice to have another creative option but as adw95 pointed out, we've filled our squad so unless we loan out someone then we can't sign him.
  9. You are Rene Muelensteen and I claim my 5 pounds.
  10. I was hoping for a highlight video. This was all I found. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DlXIxCk0qlM
  11. That's a good point. Deadlift is probably the only lift that you need to be wary of. I think plywood (I've got 2 layers of exterior plywood with the grain perpendicular to each other) underneath everything would spread the load but I'm not too sure if that would be enough to completely protect from repeated heavy DLs in the long term upstairs. Depends on the house I suppose.
  12. No worries, I'd lifted for about 4 years on and off when I bought the stuff but I'd wasted a lot of that time **** around with my mates in the gym in that time instead of getting stronger. If you've got the space and money up front then buying your own equipment is definitely the best option IMO. If I could start my lifting career all over again I'd buy the same stuff and start with a basic routine, something like Starting Strength (linked in the second ever post of this thread). The most important bits of equipment are a power cage, a bench, a barbell and some weight plates. You can try and find used stuff if you want a bargain but there's enough cheap new stuff on ebay to get a decent set up going. I got THIS cage for example. Depending on the floor in your spare room I'd recommend putting some floor covering down as well, I think this is actually all covered in the Starting Strength book.
  13. Got any good old timey detective stories you'd like to share with us, Mr. Childs?
  14. Initial outlay was about £600 for the equipment but I've added stuff sporadically. It just started as cage, bench, weights, weight tree and barbell. I also spent about £100 on heavy duty plywood and rubber horse stable mats for it all to sit on. I've got my beady eye on a hex bar next.
  15. Sorry. I have no idea of the context of that gif and as far as I'm aware I've never heard the song.
  16. Well you were responding to a guy asking about Lambert getting an extension so I assumed you were against that idea at "this point". If we get taken over by a mega-rich new owner who could afford the very best managers in the world then paying off Lambert's contract would be no problem, surely. I don't think it would be prudent to let our manager's contract expire because we wouldn't want him here with near unlimited resources. Most of our squad would be surplus to requirements as well if a mega-rich new owner who could afford the very best players bought Villa.
  17. Only the managerial equivalent of Messi wouldn't touch us with a barge pole and the managerial equivalent of Bannan would have had us relegated. We've been outspent by Burnley in this last window and could be sold to an owner with his own preferences for staff at any point without warning. I really have no idea why anyone would think we'd have a chance of attracting a non-desperate new manager at this point.
  18. £0. I bought a power cage, weights, bench, dumbbells, dipping station, spin bike etc. Always empty, always tidy, always clean.
  19. Oh well then. I guess I'll let him off. For now.
