  1. that .gif clip of the goal doesn't do it justice. it was an 18 pass move. the 2nd i'm on about
  2. It was the perfect text book away performance. Beneteke and Weiman look like they've got good telepathy in the Withe Shaw mold. Both can finish. Everyone put a shift in. Lichaj dispossessed Suarez for the first. Suarez tried to skin him with a bit of skill but eric mugged him and we punished them. The 2nd was a great passing move.
  3. He might be able to see that we're too narrow now he's in the executive box.
  4. Fergie's winning run at Villa Park is going to end next time. It hurts that we lost but we had a go it wasn't McLeish style damage limitation, we had a go at them Benteke was fantastic bullied the manu back four all afternoon. Weiman he could be a real find! A big problem we have is we always loose the game when the subs come on. I think defending a free kick is a riddiculous time to send on fabian delph.
  5. there must be something in bent's contract stating that he must get 20mins pitch time at least if he's not injured otherwise it will trigger a 2.5m release fee clause. I said to my friend when he came on "thats it we're down to 9 men now"
  6. I think we need to play Bent with 2 out and out wingers which means going back to 4-4-2 and using Albrighton and N'Zogbia. The only other way is to put Stephen Ireland in the hole behind Bent in the 4-4-2. This "should" give Bent plenty of service. We desperately need Dunne back now Baker is injured.
  7. was anyone up town or heard anything about this story? Boxer Amir Khan and brother Haroon fight off gang trying to steal his £100,000 Range rover in Birmingham A GANG of armed thugs got their just desserts when they tried to snatch a £100,000 Range Rover in Birmingham... belonging to boxer Amir Khan. At least six men used a 4x4 to block the path of former world champion Amir and his brother Haroon as they returned to the car. Amir and Haroon, who is also a boxer, were set upon early yesterday following a night out. **Boxer Amir Khan told off by his dad for fighting thieves who tried to steal his car** The Khan brothers reportedly fought back and their attackers eventually fled from the scene. A witness to the incident told The Sun newspaper: “One (of the men) slapped Amir and clipped him on the lip but Amir pulled back and knocked him out cold. “Then five of them went for Amir and Haroon but they stood their ground and these guys got dropped one by one.” All the Khan brothers were doing was defending their property, the witness said. The pair had travelled to Birmingham from Bolton, their home town, for a concert. Amir Khan has his sights set on winning back his world light-welterweight title but has also promised to guide his younger brother to a world title. He told the Daily Telegraph last week: “I think Haroon will be a world champion – we’ll definitely keep it in the family.” Haroon’s professional debut will be in Manchester in January. West Midlands Police confirmed they had been called out following reports of a fight but said that nobody had come forward. Clicky the guy in this youtube vid disagrees NSFW
  8. we've been rubbish against spurs and against southampton 2nd half the only common denominator is Stephen Ireland was missing. We need him back desperate. He's the best midfielder. I know some people don't like him but he always plays the simple ball. When we get him fit again we'll pick up points.
  9. I hope Dunne is fit as we'll need to shift clarke to left back (where i think he's less of a liability) and have dunne and Vlaar in the centre
  10. we stopped passing the ball in the 2nd half. We just lumped it long for Benteke. Taking Ireland off changed the game.
  11. I know N'Zog has been a disappointing player for Villa but I do prefer it when he's in the starting 11 because he's the only one apart from Albrighton who can go past players with the ball dribble with it. I don't like how Lambert has been playing his as the 2nd striker I prefer him out wide. He links up with Ireland well. He infuriates me I've been used to watching Ashley Young who could beat players and put a delivery in or knew when to give it simple. Basicly all the decisions Charley boy gets wrong. But You need a couple of lads in the team who can take people on. who else is going to do that if N'zog isn't playing?
  12. If the club had made it a tenner in I think more people would have made an effort. Also If you could of just paid cash on the turnstyle would have been easier. To get a £12 ticket you had to queue up at the ticket office first. They didn't make it easy for themselves. Tranmere were really poor their goalkeeper was just booting out for throw ins from goal kicks. 11 men behind the ball. Don't think Guzan had to dirty his gloves. It was a good result for us was a good performance. Ireland pulled all the strings for Villa. Everybody was their usual self. Bannan kept doing his beckham style 70 yard passes that usually came to nothing. Bent didn't do a lot apart from his goal. The whole passage of play for Bents goal was class, think a one two send Ireland down the right wing and he cut it back and Bent was clinical. Burke looked very confident when he came on late. We really need a couple of players who can dribble and go past their man with the ball.
  13. I think if you have great players in the first team you can produce better academy players. For example the man utd youngsters who came through had Hughes, Cantona Schmeichel, Keane and Andy Cole. All winners. Any youth players coming in would shine with those people around them. If they can break into the team of course. Unfortunatly when you come into the team at Villa and have a load of journey men pro's. Lee Hendrie came through when we had winners in the squad like kevin richardson and Dean Saunders. I think The people around you make a massive difference to how you develop
  14. we've got no chance of finishing above them. especially now they've got Adam Johnson
  15. I was at west ham on sat and holman had a baptism of fire. He did keep trying but nothing stuck when it came to him, passes went astray nothing went for the lad It was the right decision to take him off. (I didn't agree with taking N'Zog off) Welcome to the prem Brett. Why is it no one hits the ground running when they come to Villa?
  16. I'd rather not sell dunne. I think he good at what he does best - a stopper. The best out and out defender at the club We've got 3 lads from the dutch league, the lad from sheffield utd and a load of kids. It's a massive gamble I'd rather the mainstays of the defence were experienced prem players. or at least one of the four. I'm sorry to see Dunne leave. I agree if this happens its a massive gamble by Lambert.
  17. I'd like to see 3-5-2 also. 4-3-3 doesn't suit us. I was at upton yesturday we were too narrow, we can't pass well enough to pass through teams. 4-4-2 we'd be over run in centre midfield. 4-5-1 bent would be isolated. there would be a lot of responsibility for the wide men. If N'Zogbia was on the wing would he track back? no chance.
  18. if we sign him I'll be growing a stupid haircut as soon as possible
  19. I don't believe in natural ability, that people are born footballers. If that was true why arn't the sons of pele footballers? I read a book called Bounce by Mathew Syed which sort of agreed with what i always thought. My grandad always went on about natural ability would always win over graft. But his book shelves were packed with golf books and every tue fri and sat he'd be down the club. Obviously Riise and Agbonlahor didn't have amiga 500's when they were little. If Riise practiced mostly alone he wouldn't be good at taking on players and getting out of tight holes that someone like messi. But he must have refined his hard shot blasting the ball against a wall.
  20. Ireland has been a holte end hero ever since he took a toke on that shisha pipe. But I fear that he'll be sold because he's alleged to be a high earner (i realise mancity are meant to contribute a bit) Bringing in Holman seemed to confirm my fears. But who actually signed Holman? did Mcleish? Who actually signed Ireland? I believe the board choose the players, Holman was meant to replace Ireland but now the manager situation has changed maybe Lamber will refuse to pick Holman because he didn't sign him. In the way Mcleish refused to consider Makoun. Makoun and Ireland would still be a bit lightweight for me against teams that play 5 across the middle.
  21. the question is does he write his team on the back of a packet of fags and will he be bringing in butler as his number 2
  22. Faulkner has close contacts with Norwich City as his dad used to own them and is still involved. We're most likely tapping Lambert up from the inside. The last manager we took from the canaries wasn't too bad was he? And the one before him!
  23. Maybe the board have realised McLeish has had it in his mind all season that his job is safe and decided to leak a bit of propaganda to kickstart him into action.
