  1. Another game that springs to mind is when we lost at home to QPR, can't remember if it was 3-1 or 3-0, but Trevor Francis scored a brilliant hat trick for them. He was player manager at the time and must have arranged for himself to be substituted and went over to the Witton Lane stand so that he had to walk the entire width of the pitch to get off, at snails pace, whilst applauding the QPR fans. Think there was only 14,000ish fans in the ground that day - felt like I'd got the Holte End to myself.
  2. The game that left me feeling completely numb, empty and frustrated was the end of the first premier league season (1992) when we were going for the title with ManU. Villa drew 0-0 with Coventry, which in itself was a bad game, but at least Utd were losing at home to Sheffield Wednesday when the Villa game finished and we left the ground. By the time I was walking by the Aston Social a train went over the track above us with Coventry fans hanging out the windows, laughing, singing, waving and having a real good laugh, generally taking the mick out of any Villa fan they could see - strange reaction to a 0-0 draw I thought, until I got back to the car to hear that Utd had won 2-1 in the 9th minute of injury time
  3. It's their way of letting people know that Villa don't have any money to sanction such a deal without getting money from somewhere else first................If only they knew the truth
  4. https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/transfer-news-live-liverpool-coman-24410371 Arsenal rejected Villa's second Smith Rowe bid Aston Villa have returned with an improved bid of £30million for Arsenal playmaker Emile Smith Rowe - but they have been turned down again, reports The Athletic. Dean Smith's side saw an opening offer of £25million rejected for the talented Englishman, who has two years remaining on his contract at the Emirates. Villa's fresh offer comes amid intense speculation that Jack Grealish could seal a £100million move to Manchester City.
  5. Super Frank is available, could car share with John Terry
  6. Could be heading back to Portugal now that it's on green list countries!
  7. Birmingham City's St Andrew's renovation won't be ready for start of next season EXCLUSIVE: The summer repairs will fix some problems at the stadium - but not all - with struggling Birmingham kicking off the new campaign with a reduced capacity https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/birmingham-citys-st-andrews-renovation-23876129 Quote - Water ingress is understood to have affected the structural steelwork So the chant about St. Andrews is correct, there really is a hole in the roof where the rain pisses through
  8. Although they lost to a last minute goal last season, I thought Brighton were one of the best teams I'd seen play at Villa Park. In my opinion it was only their early sending off that stopped them from winning that game. Very confident in the way they play and in each other to receive the ball. If I recall correctly they seemed to play through the middle a lot last season, from keeper, to centre halves, to midfield and then spread wider once they had engineered the ball forward. Villa have improved massively this season so this could be a very good game. I'd take another Southampton/Leicester/Wolves last minute win, but I'd love it if we could put 4 past them just to make the last few minutes a bit easier on my nerves.
  9. I remember going to the opening of Bescot Stadium when the first official game played there was Walsall vs Villa, and if my fading memory serves me correctly it was also Dr. Jo's first game in charge.
  10. There are 10 types of people in this world, those who understand binary and those who don't
  11. If Sanson is good at set pieces then maybe, in honour of this thread, we could nickname him The Milkman - as he always delivers
  12. All these milk puns, how many pages the thread has reached and the fact Sanson hasn't signed yet is beginning to take its toll on me now, in fact I feel like I've lived a long life.
  13. Winners don't quit Quitters don't win
  14. With the Milik deal done, lets hope our negotiations for Sanson don't turn sour
  15. https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/former-aston-villa-star-handed-23353109 Former Aston Villa star handed two-year suspended sentence over threesome sex-tape scandal Tony Moon gets a 2 year suspended sentence.
  16. I thought everyone cod see the intended fish pun
  17. Is this the gap that we have been constantly told to mind?
  18. Game is postponed, confirmed by Sky Sports
  19. If Villa were shooting at John Lennon he'd still be alive today
  20. I don't think its just racist language being used to wind somebody up. It is any piece of one upmanship you think you can gain by highlighting a persons perceived weakness or major feature and use it to your benefit. We've all been in a situation where we have got worked up and the easiest thing in the world to do is to use what you perceive as as persons weakness and use it against them, this has been going on since we were all young kids in the playground. Terry chose to highlight Ferdinands colour but how many times have we heard someone call a bald-headed this, a ginger that or a big nosed whatever just because this is their main feature in the hope they lose control and you then gain the upper hand. I'm sure in the cold light of day no-one would use that type of provocation only "in the heat of the battle"
  21. Yeah but my Dad is bigger than yours, so I should be first
  22. As I understand it the capacity for tier 1 clubs is 4,000 or 10% of the stadium capacity, whichever is the smaller, tier 2 is 2,000 or 10% capacity and tier 3 is no fans. So Walsall, for example, who's capacity is 11,300 can only have 1,130 in tier 1 and 2 Also with travel restrictions still in place the ticket allocations for games may be based on postcode, as the government don't want people travelling from a tier 3 area to a tier 1 area to watch a game of football.
