The problem that you cannot overcome is the fact that the Holte End is now all seater. I was a season ticket holder on the old Holte End for years, even remained a season ticket holder when it became all seater (thats not the point I'm trying to make). What you found when it was a terrace was that people had freedom of choice to stand where they wanted (I was usually found on the left side near the gap 2/3 of the way up - just enough to be under cover if it rained) and if a particular group was making noise that you wanted to join in with you just made your way there, no excuse me, can I just squeeze past bollocks while people tutted at you and looked at you like you were a piece of shit. You just made your way there squeezed in where you could and sang your heart out, discoed and even pushed people to begin a sway. Nowadays you have your seat for the entire season and if you don't like the people you are near then tough shit you have to rough it out.
Also the atmosphere generated before a game was better because if you wanted to be in the best spot you had to be there early to make sure you got it. Now as your seat is always there, in the same spot, never moving people tend to turn up 5 mins before kick off without having to worry about making sure they are in the best place.
Also while I'm on a roll - another thing - The Trinity and Witton Lane used to be where the older people chose to sit as the younger ones with less money and more enthusiasm used to be quite loud, aggresive and full of teenage angst and the football was a place to relieve a lot of this. Now a seat is a seat so the older generation who used to stand on the Holte now sit on the Holte. It's like the progression from the front of the Holte to the middle of the Holte, to the back of the Holte to the Trinity Road has stopped.
I could go on for ages about this subject but I've probably said enough.
Once upon a time I loved the Holte End now I only acknowledge its there.
