The fact that we've scored the least and conceded the most should surely mean we should be bottom then yet we've only just gone into the bottom 3. You can't base football on current evidence otherwise man city would have gave up with 6 games to go last season when they were what? 8 points behind Man U of all teams. They don't let leads like that slip. I know that's a different scenario than what we're in but point is if you went on form and such there would be no point in even turning up.

This a thousand times over. At the start of the season I said I would be happy as long as we stayed up because I believe lambert can reshape the squad into what we need. I wouldn't be happy if we went down but I'd still want lambert in charge.

What's the point of it all then? Anything can happen in football. That's the beauty of it, how unpredictable it is. If you were going on evidence then we should be able to beat Liverpool since we've proved we can do that this season. Yes our forms been bad but that doesn't mean we can't turn it around. Our form going into the Chelsea game didn't warrant an 8 - 0 loss did it.

I am generally positive and optimistic but I firmly believe we can overcome our form. Remember the Bolton game last season? That's the first time I thought we might go down. I thought if we couldn't beat that crap Bolton team at home then we were screwed. We didn't go down as we all know. I'll never say we will definitely stay up, that would be stupid but while we can still mathematically avoid it I will believe we can overcome any odds. The best and worst part about football is anything can happen so I choose to believe the better scenario because let's face it, I'm not the manager, owner, board member or one of the players. I can't change what's happening so I'll just turn up each week and show my support to the players on the pitch.

He generally does feck all else but fact is he scores goals, hell he has done at all of his clubs and what we need now is goals. He kept us up once before and he could very much help us this season.

I didn't see us beating Liverpool at anfield or Swansea at home or even getting a draw against arsenal so why can't we get some better results than that. Apart from man city I can see us maybe getting a draw in most of those and a win in a few.

Didn't we finish 16th in dougs last season. Still very possible to achieve this season. Add into the funding he gave mon to try and get CL football which was a gamble which didn't pay off. And not that it means much now to matters on the pitch but all of the things that have improved off it goes to show he wanted success but maybe was a little to for want of a better word enthusiastic. Unfortunately I think he's going the completely to the other end of the scale and not putting enough in.

I'm not going to slate Lerner like some on here because I really appreiciate what he's done for the club since he arrived but surely he can see the need and provide the funds for a couple new players this January.

If I misinterpreted it then my apologies. I saw it as superb for villa which IMO can't be argued with.

He really does remind me of Carrick and I wouldn't be surprised if he replaced him in 3/4 seasons.

When people say he was superb ( which he was ) I think it's in context of the game and the team he's playing in. No ones saying he's in the same class as the worlds best players. Really did do well today. Rarely gives the ball away and most importantly always looks forward for a pass.

Westwood MOTM for me. Maybe should be Delph but he's pissed me off a bit in the past so might be some bias there lol.

Ref against us. We couldn't hit water if we fell out of a boat. It really was just one of those days but unfortunately we're not in a position to have these games. Lambert going is not the answer, at this stage of the season it won't make a difference if Lerner's not willing to spend and if we survive I'm quite looking forward to next season because most of Lambert's signings have been the bright spots this season ( apart from Bennett but I still think he'll get better ). Delph played well today but has been known to be inconsistent but Westwood looks like a top find IMO. Reminds me of carrick, just gets the ball, keeps it and the majority of the time plays it forward whilst also finding one of our players. If we can get a DM destroyer to play alongside him and an attacking midfielder or Ireland in form ( unlikely I know ) I think we would have a great midfield. Apart from the ridiculous hesitation that led to the non-pen the defence wasn't too bad although Stevens confidence looked to evaporate after the penalty. Still think we need a new LB and CB but if we can get Vlaar back and keep him fit we could wait until the summer for one. As stupid as it sounds considering we don't score a lot of goals but I think we line up to attacking. There were numerous times today when there 4 players upfront and the problem was when it didn't stick there was no one to pick up the second ball. I'd rather us sign a defensive midfielder to sit in front of the back 4, Westwood and Delph/bannan in front of him with Benteke up front and weimann and gabby/Holman/zog cutting in from wide.

I really want his as well. Tomb Raider, Crysis 3 and Gears Of War: Judgement are all pre-ordered.

QPR, Wigan, Southampton and Reading all have worse or maybe on a push equal squad's than ours. It's not a formality we will go down.

I really don't get why people seem to think it's 100% likely that we are going to go down. I'm not saying we will definitely stay up but I don't think it's as clear cut as some make it out to be.

I think Bennett might come good still but he look's like he just hasn't made the step up like say Lowton has. In an ideal world I'd send him on loan to a championship club for the rest of the season but without buying another LB I can't see it happening as our squad is small enough as it is.

I'd take a fit Dunne back but like other's have said it would take some time for his fitness to come back. I really can't believe some people would rather have Hutton in for Lowton and I know Bennett hasn't been up to standard but I think Steven's should get more of a chance not Warnock.

Thank god he's at least back in training. Could really do with him tomorrow though unfortunately.

Would rather have Lowton and Steven's tbh. Hell I'd rather put Clark or Baker at LB than Warnock and I wouldn't let Hutton anywhere near the first team even if we had no RB's.

I'd like to see more of him. Surely it's worth giving him a go even if it's an extended cameo at the end like 20 minutes or something. Everyone else has had a chance so why shouldn't Samir?

I can argue with that. We weren't relegated last season and we are currently not in the relagation zone this season. Putting all results and performances aside, we are not in the drop zone and we've played over half the season.
