  1. I noticed it too, but we were never getting that decision.
  2. How?! That was a definite offside. VAR screwing us again.

    Running

Depends what your goal is, but intervals and gym leg work to build speed and 02 capacity, with the occassional longer run to build endurance?

We actually call it biff tartar. We’re not barbarians.

    U.S. Politics

It’s performance art, really. Satire, surely. It’s just a shame about the very real consequences.
  6. We did a lot of things right today. Our pressing game was excellent, which forced a lot of errors from their players. Then, we took advantage of those errors, attacking with conviction and sending a lot of bodies forward. Going forward, we looked excellent. Defensively, we were a little open, and I still feel we can be too sloppy with the ball, but the way we defended our box, blocking shots, was great. Shame about the silly consolation goal we gave them, but hey. So many had good games, it’s hard to pick a MOTM. Wesley’s brace is hard to overlook, Grealish is always brilliant, but Marvelous really stood out for me as key to our entire shape and plan .
  7. This still feels far from done. After the penalty miss, I’ll get no sleep tonight if we drop points again.
  8. Maybe Conor could play kind of a free role wide right, drifting inside to open up for Guilbert?

    U.S. Politics

Bill Maher’s completely one-sided-to-the-point- of-outright anti-Palestinian-bigotry support for Israel is probably my main issue with him. Bari Weiss was the genius who called Jeremy Corbyn an outright anti-semite last week.

    U.S. Politics

I was watching the latest edition of Real Time last night and was reminded why I don’t like Bill Maher very much. First he interrupted Michael Moore every two seconds of his «interview», then talked out his arse about European welfare systems with no basis in reality, then let a Jewish author straight out call Jeremy Corbyn an anti-semite without comment. Do some effing research, eh, Bill? It’s not easy for the left over there. Guys like Bill Maher is supposed to be on their side. Who needs enemies?
  11. I’d assume he meant Trez, who is suspended.

    Do you read?

Anyone ever read any Norwegian writers? For a long time I almost exclusively read foreign, mostly English language, writers, but I have recently learned to appreciate the literary heritage of my own native culture.

    Do you read?

Wrong choice of first Hemingway novel. Don’t get me wrong, I loved it, once I finally got around to reading it. I first discovered Hemingway at 20, and absolutely sprinted through A Farewell to Arms and The Old Man and the Sea, moving on to FWTBT expecting to keep the same pace going. I too found the language odd at first, and very rough reading. Never finished it until last year, when I breezed through the whole thing in two days, being more prepared for the rather archaic tone. It’s a great book, but not where I’d start with Hemingway. A Farewell to Arms is more accessible, and his short story bibliography is just amazing.
  14. Who is this Steve fella and why is he talking as if he knows us? Congrats, @Stevo985, I’ll check it out when it hits Apple Podcasts.
  15. You’re an excellent writer, mate. Much better than a lot of people who are being paid decent money to write.

    Addiction

But. It will always exist. ...won’t it? Other than VT, nicotine (smokeless) is my main and only proper addiction. I do think I am prone to addiction, though. I’ll get easily hooked by games, working out etc. I’ll also feel physical stress if I have to miss a Villa game, or can’t attend home games for my Norwegian team (I’ve missed about a handful in a decade). I guess that is a form of addiction.
  17. My mother has been diagnosed with bone marrow cancer. I’m devastated and feel completely lost. I’m also very thankful we live in a country where she’ll receive the best possible care and treatment without having to worry about the cost.
  18. We have to use this as motivation. Completely screwed over by corruption and/or gross incompetence.
  19. If VAR doesn’t prevent that abomination of a call, then stuff it in the bin.
  20. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a worse refereeing decision. I’m absolutely fuming. Robbed of a point.
  21. Very difficult for the pitcher to grip the ball, grounders become wildly unpredictable for defenders, and also because of increased risk of injury (which sounds soft, but remember the earlier point about ball grip and the fact that they play 162 games/season + play offs.)
