  1. Villa Park will be rocking for the Leicester game but starting Samatta will give the atmosphere an even bigger boost. He must start.
  2. I don’t think so. It was seated on the top level and standing on the lower level. You can see the Witton Lane stand in this image for the Liverpool v Chelsea FA Cup semi-final in March 1965. It was made an all seater stand for the 66 World Cup.
  3. Almost exactly 20 years ago on 25th January 2000 we drew at Villa Park with Leicester 0-0 in the League Cup. Lets hope we can do better tomorrow.
  4. Agree. While many seem happy to write him off, I have never understood why.
  5. As we are approaching the 2nd leg of Carabao League Cup semi-final v Leicester on Tuesday, I thought people may be interested to see my 2nd leg programme from very first league cup final which we won over two legs against Rotherham. Due to congestion the previous season, we couldn’t play the final till the 1961/62 season. Despite its historical significance and the opportunity to win a cup, there was only a crowd of 31,202 at VP. As an 8 year old, I was one of them! We got off to a disastrous start in the first leg losing 2-0 at Rotherham in August. A month later at Villa park, we were still behind on agreggate by the 66th minute. Then Alan O’Neil and Harry Burrows pulled it back to 2-2 by 90 minutes. In extra time the legend that is Peter McParland made it three - nil and won the very first league cup for Aston Villa FC. After the match McParland described Villa fans as “the greatest fans in football” for urging the team on throughout the game. Nearly 60 years later, beat Leicester on Tuesday and we have a chance at Wembley of making it 6 League cups - Man City may have other ideas of course. UTV
  6. I really think it is to early to rate the guy. He definitely brought some energy but didn’t do a lot. Hope he can breakthrough though.
  7. They really are ****! Couldn’t do us a favour! Losing to Burnley at home could be the end for Solskaer.
  8. Big problems at Wham. Lets hope they get worse. Always been one of my most hated clubs.
  9. He was better last night but was a bit Hourahanish at times getting caught on the ball. Need to build up his confidence.
  10. 40,800+ last night and Watford didn’t sell the full allocation. Considering our season to date, I think it is amazing that we are almost selling out. Imagine the demand if we start to compete in the top half. As for the atmosphere last night, you could have cut it with a knife at times such was the tension. However, once we equalized it was electric and went ballistic at the end. ‘A cold Tuesday night’ at Villa Park when we win in the last ten seconds, is akin to being in paradise on speed
  11. Marvelous was incredible last night. Definitely motm for me. He was a revelation. Hopefully this was his breakthrough game and he can continue to improve.
  12. We must have been watching different games. Playing out of position, he worked his bo llocks off, was constantly moving and actually held up the ball on several occasions.
  13. Da, da, dada, da....dadada Da, da, dada, da....dadada Da, da, dada, da....dadada Ohhhhh Deano! The crowd they all hailed youAnd chanted your name Ohhh Deano woah Deano Not out the woods, but DS needed that result. Well done gaffer
  14. Just got home - head, chest, everything nearly exploded when we scored the winner. Feeling elated, but FFS it is stressful supporting the Villa. Great performance against the w***kers known as Watford who did everything they could to slow down the game. Martin Atkinson was a disgrace as ref. I knew Pearson’s wheels would come off tonight but waiting till seconds from end for it to happen nearly gave me a nervous breakdown. Grealish, did everything he could to drive team forward in the second, worked like a Trojan and led by example. Hause’s dodgy passing was a big problem, but he was better in the second. Al Ghazi never stopped running, Trez is limited but he never stops, great performances by Target and Guilbert But MOTM was Marvellous - absolutely stunning performance - where the hell did that come from? He now has his confidence.. Finally it looks like we can play as a team but still work to do - but we can only get better now. Smith used same tactic as 2nd half against Brighton, telling centre backs to push further up - risky but it worked. Bring on Leicester and Bournemouth! Villa Park was absolutely rocking at the end. F*** off Deeney, you fat bluenose ex-convict. A great night, UTV!
  15. I don’t whether I am one of Desuses Disiples or just a Villa suporta!
  16. I think he will start or be on the bench. It’s not like we have much choice.
  17. Fair enough but every good run comes to an end and the match against us could be it for Watford. Based on form and our last game v them, they will be full of confidence - hopefully too much.
  18. Kause was terrible yesterday but it was imho a symptom of the stress throughout the team. I think it’s too early to write him off.
  19. We need 3 points against Watford Tuesday night and Bournemouth is absolutely another critical game. 4/6 points from these two, bring in a couple of players, squad gains in confidence, get some upward momentum, survive, keep Jack and have a great season next year Have lived down here for 18 years and have never been to their ground and really hope my first visit is an away win.
  20. We really need to get VP rocking Tuesday.. It is a huge game and could be a turning point. Troy Deeney’s mere presence will be enough to rouse the Holte End.
  21. Judging by his face on the line today, he is well stressed!
  22. I agree we were dire in the 1st but the stats suggest BHA weren’t all that and there was little in it overall. BHA shots 10, on target 2, AVFC 8, with 3 on target.
