  1. It’s a different market now due to COVID. Less buyers and more sellers should make easier pickings.
  2. Real Sliding Doors moment for us today. This thread is making me much happier than it could have had the result been different. COYVB. UTV. SOTC.....
  3. Crying like a baby! Never again please Villa!!!
  4. They just need to win. Don’t need the two. I think they are our biggest danger.
  5. My nerves started about 11pm on Tuesday night. I feel ill now. I would absolutely hate Villa if I didn’t love them so much! COYVB
  6. Just think about this. Why would we agree to sell Jack in secret before the season is already over? Surely we would wait until the end of the season to see where we are but also to generate some competition. We are not secretly selling a prize asset to anyone mid season. I am confident he will be a Villa player next season if we stay up. If not we will only sell at the right price.
  7. Good strategy. Drink 6 or 7 now. Have a row with the missus. Fall asleep. Wake up at 6pm. Missus still not talking to you so straight to the boozer to celebrate/drown your sorrows. Pick up the pieces tomorrow!
  8. I think a point will do is too. I would take a point now to be honest.
  9. Don’t they need to better us by 2 goals? This is all so bloody confusing. I might just wait and then look at the league table at 6pm. Hopefully it will be clear by then!
  10. We have improved since lockdown. We look much more like a settled team now. He seems to have settled on a formation that suits the players and our selections have been much more consistent. The form of some players has certainly improved as a result. It is so hard to know how much of the above is down to coaching and players having time to settle as opposed to playing in empty stadiums against teams with little motivation. I am still in the, we should change him if a suitable person is available who is a significant improvement, camp. If that person is not available then we should continue as we are. After the Arsenal game Richards said that he had found Smith to be too nice to the players especially after defeat. This is my greatest nagging doubt. The best managers need to be feared and loved in equal measure. Can Dean be ruthless enough to re-establish us in the PL? Or get us back up if we go down? I am not convinced either way at the moment but I don’t want us to take anymore gambles. Either appoint a top coach or stick with what we have.
  11. This is so true. The only concern is that Reina does not have the shot stopping ability that he used to have. Having Luiz and Reina reduces the number of shots on target but decent shots are more likely to go in. We need to keep making sure that we prevent West Ham getting shots away at goal.
  12. I agree. I think we need 4 PL quality players to fill the front 3 positions and 1 in centre midfield. We then need a couple of young full backs that can provide competition and grow into PL full backs in time. Add in a bruising centre half and we are there or there abouts. All based upon us staying up of course. If we don’t, we need to keep our squad together as much as possible, add some pace in the wide forward positions, a bit more quality in centre mid and that should do us. I think we can retain everyone next season, excluding Jack, if we do go down. We will then come back up in a much stronger position.
  13. If we stay up, I am sure that Jack will stay. He may even stay if we go down albeit I accept that it is unlikely.
  14. I agree with this. The transfer window will be so interesting. Add in the potential of relaxed FFP and who knows what may happen.

    Keinan Davis

I think we should give the kid a break. He clearly has talent. His confidence must be through the floor but he has the courage to keep showing for the ball and trying hard. Many much more experienced players would be hiding away. I agree that a season in loan would help his development but I have seen enough to suggest that he can be good enough.
  16. We stay up and a Grealish stays. I am sure of it. COYVBs
  17. She might well do............How much money you got?
  18. How do we know that Poch is out of our reach if we stay up? The only way to find out is to try. If we give him our best pitch and it fails, then fair enough but there is no harm in trying. People are all motivated by different things. Villa might just represent the kind of challenge that he would relish. I accept that it is a long shot but it is not impossible. UTV
  19. Arsenal are extremely beatable. We need to be committed and resolute. We need to play higher up the pitch and not give their back 4 a second of peace. I would start with Jack, Trez and Davis as a front 3 and get them to stay high up the pitch. SJM, Nakamba and Luiz in the middle to work their socks off and protect the back 4. If all goes to plan Conor on for SJM and AEG on for Trez in the last 30 to really go for it. We can do this!!!!!
  20. You have not provided any evidence of exploitation. Also, just because you don’t like him please don’t insult me. My dad is from Aston. I grew up watching Villa from the HE with him and my sister. My 5 year old is also Villa despite being born within a stones throw of LCFC. Take your condescending attitude elsewhere please.
  21. I have never seen any evidence of him underpaying his staff. All leaders use manipulation to gain competitive advantage. Anyway off topic! The point that I was making is that, regardless of your views on him, Bezos thinks and aims big. This is something that I have rarely seen from Villa in all my time supporting the club. We will never truly alter our path until we start to do it.
