Just had a pop into a Brentford forum (yes....I do feel dirty). They are all adamant that no buy out clause exists. They mostly think that he is also too good for us

I love the way we are finally starting to take the academy seriously. It’s been poorly run for years. It all adds to the sustainable model that we are trying to adopt and it really is exciting when young players make their way into the first team. Exciting times thanks to Wes and Nas.

I have not said that he is anything like Hogan as a player just that I fear he will have a similar impact

Not lazy. Just my opinion. Watkins will be 25 in December and has achieved very little. Have you seen him play? I have watched Brentford a few times this season and have never been impressed by his abilities. I don’t think he has the talent to be successful against better defences in a team that does not create lots of opportunities for him.

I think Wesley is much better than Watkins and he is much younger. Watkins is another Hogan waiting to happen in my view. To be avoided

Watkins is not a Premier League player. I hope we leave him well alone. It would be a massive mistake.

He is very good. I think he will be a top player. He has much more chance of making it in England than Morelos. Anything less than £30m and we should be trying to do business.

I think that things will start to heat up tomorrow, once the Championship Play Off is complete. If Fulham do win the Play Off Final. Will they be doing a Villa?

He and Wes seem to really buzz off each other. Hopefully his form will help Wes to improve when he gets back. He is a fantastic little player.

Would cost loads. Not as good as Trez or AEG. Please no. We need to sign players who are going to improve the first 11. The players dropping out then become the squad players, plus any youngsters coming through. Clubs in our position do not buy squad players if they want to improve. That was always my biggest beef with MON. He filled the bench with over priced and over paid crap and totally stemmed the flow of the decent youngsters that we had at the time.

I hope any link to Joe Lolley is garbage. He would cost quite a lot and he really isn’t that good. He is a championship player and that’s where he hopefully remains.........good lad though

I can’t believe we are going to spend £5m on yet another keeper. How many have we bought over the past few years? We need to either stop messing around and buy a top keeper or go with what we have until Tom is fit. Is this guy really going to be much better than Nyland?

The guy at Celtic is some player. I can’t believe that he won’t move on this transfer window. He would be great at Villa.

Pre Covid v Now. It’s a completely different place. Massive drop in revenue. Less buyers. It’s a totally different marketplace now.

Not sure about Watkins. He is nearly 25 and not achieved anything ahead of this season. He has the potential to be another Hogan. He does appear to have the attributes but I think we can do better for the money. I would love Benrahma though. He looks a player.

Mings is the least of our worries. He is a good player and one of our leaders. He also has the scope to grow with the club. He could be our centre half for the next 5 years. I really believe that our defence will improve considerably by improving the midfield and attack. Part of the improvement post lockdown was due to the much improved performances of Luiz sat just in front of them.

I think we will start to see things moving over the next few days. I wonder whether the continued involvement of Brentford in the Play offs is slowing things down? Whatever, we still have 2 weeks before the start of pre season so plenty of time to get things sorted. I expect to see at least 3 new signings before we start up again.
