  1. I'm a fan Isa, but i don't think hes ready yet for a start.Makes the wrong choice too often, but that will come.Has a good touch, is good on the ball, just pure execution at times, but that cross to CB shows he has real quality. Bring him on later in the season, but not yet imho.
  2. Solid, strong, quick FB.......thats all i want from a FB.A bargain at £2m
  3. Great cross for CB. Has quality, but not up to the pace of the Prem yet, but has all the attributes to be a good player. He can spot a pass, i'll give him that, just needs to concentrate on the execution of the pass.
  4. I thought we missed him when he went off.He is the only midfielder we have who can find that gap between attack and midfield, we struggled to adapt when he went off. I thought the midfield of Cleverley, Richardson and Sanchez has a better balance, more pace, and play the ball quicker.Bring Delph in and its not too bad.
  5. MOM for me, looks a real prospect. We struggled with Woods height in the 2nd half, but overall i think he looks a really good player.Attacks the ball well, and tries to win the ball on the halfway line, i like that.
  6. Apart from CB, my favourite Villa player, although Okores isn't far behind, At the risk of getting slagged off, but for me the midfield looked a better balance with Sanchez at the back and Richardsons running off the ball. Have to say Sanchez does tire the last 10 mins though.
  7. A few things worry me about PLs decisions Stevo. Okores was 5th choice, mainly because PL didn't obviously rate him.Sometimes he was out of the squad entirely. Now as you say that is his right, but having seen Okores twice, not only is he obviously ready, but you could argue, given a few games, he could turn out to be our best CH.Now that in my view is bad judgement. Then you have his treatment of Sanchez,Westwood, Gabby, Grealish, and maybe the fact that after 3 seasons in charge, we play the kind of dirge from last night, then i think i have good reason to question PLs decisions.
  8. I was a big fan of Yorke, but imho CB is better.Got everything, hopefully for him, and us in a way, will be playing for RM or Barca in a couple of years time.
  9. Makes you wonder why he has been out the team for so long.He does make mistakes, but he is young, and potentially very good.Would imho benefit from playing alongside Vlaar short term, and probably Baker long term. If he continues to impress, then i would try and get some money for Vlaar in Jan. Some of PLs judgements do worry me, this lad looks easily ready foe PL football, and in truth is probably our best central defender.Yes he does make mistakes, but his power and more importantly his pace, will easily make up for mistakes he is likely to make.
  10. Whatever Burnley want for Ings, and whatever anybody else offers, i would better it.The kid is going to be top class, his touch and confidence in front of goal is something you can't teach.Him playing off CB, with another good attacker, Ayew?, playing off him, save the money for Cleverley, and try and get Michu.
  11. By the way Steffan, just noticed you have gone to Poland, read your dilemma a week or two ago....best wishes and good luck.Up the Villa
  12. I suggest you read my comments. All i say about Westwood is he is an incredibly average player, and not good enough for Villa imho. And i couldn't give a monkeys if you accept that or not. In my eyes a few passes in a game does not constitute a good game, he was ok yday, no more in my eyes. My agenda?.....for AVFC to have a better team, thats all. You seem to think you have some kind of monopoly on knowledge of the game.....its all about opinions, to coin a phrase.
  13. " I know more about football than you" argument Steffan, or difference in opinion? You seem to take any criticism of Westwood, or in my case non praise of Westwood, quite personally.Lets put it down to difference in views.I admire your loyalty to him i have to say, but not for me.
  14. " Hes not on the pitch to create or score".......what is his role in the team then? Sanchez is the sitting midfielder, Cleverley and Westwood to support the attack. You misunderstand the concept of having a good game.A lot of them passes he made yday, i expect a professional footballer in the Prem to be able to do.Thats the trouble with Westwood, he gets praised to the hilt for doing the basics. He was ok yday, but when we had plenty of the ball we didn't offer enough threat in front of goal. For me it was up to Cleverley and Westwood to get in the box and support Gabby, they didn't.A better performance yday, and Joe Cole was a joy to watch.
  15. Never looked like doing what he was on the pitch for, scoring or creating.Him or Cleverley are just too average.
  16. For me we will miss him if he isn't playing. His strength and power is irreplaceable atm.Not sure we would miss Cleverley or Westwood. Certainly a mixed bag, but i think the positives outweigh the negatives. With a midfielder who can shoot/score goals/get in the box, alongside Delph, the midfield will be fine.
  17. Hes done the pass of the season at VP so far this year. His pass to Hutton, i believe his first touch, was by far the best pass by a Villa player at VP this season. He looks off the pace, and has admitted so in todays papers. Will imho be a very good player for us, and as Delphinio said, alongside Delph, and a better midfielder he will be fine.Michu maybe.
  18. You could argue Gabby cost us 5 points against Spuds and Soton as well by not marking his men. We'll agree to disagree about Westwood, but i think Sanchezs physical presence will be very important this season.
  19. Well you could argue that since he has played we have not lost 2 out of 3 games, which for us is good. My post said that i don't think he is up to speed, he plays too far up the pitch, and he gets caught out of position. However, he is strong, competitive, aggressive and quick. He is good in the tackle, competes in the air, and defends the edge of the box better than any other midfielder we have.As the Makelele role he is ideal. Now, for me, leave Sanchez deep, and let Cleverley. and Westwood to do what they are supposed to be good at, being positive, but to be fair, they both look incapable of providing anything from midfield. No goals, no assists, therein lies the problem.
  20. I'm getting like that Steffan, not even bothered now. Can anybody tell me , in how many home games in Lamberts reign, have we had more than 50% possession? I know its not the be all and end all, but it does, for me , signify how negative, and on the back foot we are. Another thing last night, when was the last time a team like Soton come to VP and were 4 to 1 ON , to beat us...............unacceptable.
  21. We'll get relegated with a midfield of Delph, Cleverley and Westwood. I'm struggling to see anything positive that any of our midfield did last night. Now i can excuse Sanchez, firstly because i think he is coming up to the pace of the game, and secondly because i think he is a good defensive midfielder, so his game is to win the ball and pass it on.Now , for me, neither Cleverley or Westwood done one good positive thing last night. Westwoods attempt to play Weimann through late in the 2nd half, for me highlighted both Villas and Westwoods deficiencies, not able to complete the pass because of poor quality.Going forward we are incredibly poor.Westwood wasn't the worst last night, in fact he was probably the best of the midfield, but if hes our best, then that is our problem. An ok player in a poor team.
  22. Agree villaglint.Clarks biggest problem for me is he gets pulled out of position far too easily, but last night he was staedy, and for me MOM. Not a fan, never have been , never will be, but played well last night.
  23. Dear me complete overreaction. Not his best performance last night, but showed enough to suggest that we would miss him terribly if he wasn't in the team. The problem last night was PLs insistence on getting Westwood in the team, he plays too deep, and Sanchez pushes up to far forward, and then looks off the pace when he has to get back.He needs to just sit in front of the back 4 and win the ball there, the fact that Westwood , Cleverley, NZog, and Weimann did nothing with the ball when we got it is another problem. Sanchez will turn out to be a bargain at £4m
  24. Prefer Dembele. Not sure about Holtby, never done enough to suggest to me he is anything special.A very similar player to Cleverley, not sure we would need both. I can see Arse looking at Delph, might prefer a swap with them.
  25. Hes better than Westwood, just. Sigurdsson has 2 goals, and 7 assists this season, Cleverley and Westwood 0 and 0?. Perspective time, Westwood and Cleverley not good enough, Sanchez and Delph are.Maybe try GG in Jan, but i think we need to look elsewhere tbh.
