Too many average players. Lowton did better passes than Westwood, and why wasn't Gil in the team? Westwood was ok today, but he wasn't good, that's our problem, too many we're ok. The best bit of forward play won the game.Sinclair looked off the pace, and Gabby never looks like scoring, and then you have a midfield behind of 0 goals this season?

Is that a good game?......bloody hell no wonder we are struggling. Average, thats all.One good pass to Sinclair in the 1st half, which should have been squared, and i'm struggling to think of anything else he did tbh.

And you are the poster who purposely posted a comment immediately after the game suggesting that Sanchez cost us the game, and Westwood wouldn't have. For the sake of AVFC i hope that Sherwood makes the right decisions about the midfield combination and keeps us up, and if that means Westwood in the team, then so be it, not for me though, i would go with a midfield of Delph, Sanchez and Bacuna tbh.

Thats the side i why stick with until the end of the season DC. Set up right it should be hard to beat, and might offer enough energy and movement to get us out of this mess.

He wasn't as bad as Westwood was against Hull or Leicester. He's not fully up to the pace of the Prem, but he will be a very good player, i have every confidence.

To be fair to Sherwood the quality is just not there. The quality of the ball into the box is poor, the quality of replacements is poor, the quality of play is poor. I still believe we have some good players.We need to play our best players in their best positions,Get Gil in better positions, probably play Sinclair off CB, and bring in Bacuna alongside Delph and Sanchez,We need to be out of the bottom 3 within the next 4 games, we should have had one today, we need to go undefeated in the next 2 or 3 games, and if that means defensive, then so be it.

Poor service today too him, and poor movement off him.Needs a midfielder to run off his flicks/knock downs.Gabby isn't intelligent enough to know when/where to run.Maybe try Bacuna or Cole or Gil running off him. He doesn't become a bad player over night.

As i said on another thread, Sherwood got suckered today, playing 2 in central midfield left us exposed, too much movement, and too much pace off Stoke.Saying that , 2 poor goals, you could argue Vlaar should have done better on both. Mistake taking Gil off, and Gabby and Sinclair were poorer than Sanchez imho, and Delph wasn't much better. Wins a lot of the ball high up Sanchez, and the pass to Hutton was superb.In good positions, our final ball is terrible.

Westwood is shite, certainly no better than Sanchez, get over it. Sherwood got suckered today, we was overrun in midfield, and he chased the game, should have brought a midfielder on, or moved Gil inside, and Gabby wide. I hope we never see Westwood play again for us, then it might stop the pathetically childish comments about Westwood and how we miss him or we don't miss him.

A midfield of Sanchez, Delph and Bacuna with Gil and Sinclair either side of CB, against the top 10 teams, and a midfield of Delph , Sanchez, Gil and Sinclair with Weimann and CB against the rest.

Keep being told he is our best passer. Well yday he tried forward passes, and as i said, he hasn't got the ability to do it. Don't mind people sticking up for him, and rating him, but don't tell me he is a good passer.Robbie Savage summed him up, too safe, too pedestrian, too negative.

Sorry CED, i'm a big Hoddle fan, fantastic footballer, and in my view a very underrated manager and tactician. I find it hard to disagree with anything when he is a pundit, and if he comes, i will be a lot more optimistic about the future. UTV

Another insipid appointment. In the summer, Karanca, Warburton, De Boer, McLaren, Garde, Eddie Howe, to name a few would all have been available, and we give a 3 year contract to someone who got the sack after only 28 games in charge of any football club.An absolutely ridiculous decision, yet again, and i fear this is the start of a downnward spiral. Nothing against Sherwood, i just don't see what he offers.

I'd be surprised if Sherwood is the only option, it could be a ploy to smoke out other interested parties. I just don't see what Sherwood has done to justify a job at Villa, he might be a success, but i have my reservations.I think it would be a massive gamble, and considering some of the options out there, i think a poor appointment.

Talked up a lot on Talksport yday, that Paco Jemez.The reporter said that Ancelloti was so impressed when Real Madrid played them, that he asked to go and watch him do training with his players, because he couldn't believe how much he got out of them.

His lack of mobility, and energy is the problem.He is a tidy player , but offers nothing.He doesn't frighten the opposition, we keep hearing about his passing ability, but see little evidence of it. Last night he, and Delph, sat too deep, there was no support for CB.Every time he got the ball he was surrounded by 2 or 3 Hull players who crowded him out, and we lost the ball.The reason why they sat so deep is because of Westwoods lack of pace, and physical presence, which means they have to sit deeper to protect the back 4.Also Westwood wants too many touches, he very rarely plays a 1st time pass, takes one or 2 touches, and slows the game down too much, it means that Sinclair, and Gil in particular get the ball too late, and have too much to do, so have to play the ball backwards. We need to play to our strengths, which atm is very limited, but mainly CB, and Gil.So we need to build a team to accommodate these 2 players in their best positions, and for me that means playing Sanchez and Delph as holding midfielders with Gil behind CB. Westwood is an average player at best, he wasn't the worst last night, but there is no way he should be in the team ahead of Sanchez, and i'd prefer Bacuna over him as well.
