Is this the same Westwood who has been a regular in a poor Villa midfield for the last 2 seasons, a team, that last season, i believe only had more than 50% possession in 2 games? That doesn't indicate composure and good passing. Our midfield has been poor for at least 4 years, you could argue that both Delph and Westwood need replacing. But the levels of obsession with Westwood on here and his abilities/importance are ridiculous.Lets wait and see, i hope we finish in the top half, if Westwood is in the team that does that, then that'll be fine with me.

And me, but the links to teams like Chelsk are a bit optimistic imho. That lad at Blooose looks a prospect we should be going for.

I think he looks a good prospect, hes not as good as some on here seem to think, but i think he is about our level, and i think he will be a good player for us.

I think a loan will be ideal for us.We can have a look at him and decide whether he can fit into a midfield with Delph and Sanchez/Westwood.If he hasn't by Jan, then i would look at alternatives like Dembele. Thought he played well against Lplop, just worry a midfield of Delph, Westwood, and Cleverley might be a bit lightweight if i'm honest.

Hes confident on the ball, i'll give him that. He looks a nice little player to me, think he might need to play inside a bit, not sure he has the pace to play wide.

I think he will turn out to be a good player. You have to remember he has come from the Spanish league, where they don't really push so high up the pitch.He got caught out dwelling on the ball in the Villa half.His strength, pace and aggression will eventually be a big bonus to our team.

So we lost because Westwood wasn't playing? We lost because Vlaar and Benteke weren't playing.We lost because Arse have much better players than we have.We lost because we haven't invested in our team enough in the last 3 years. Westwood, despite the superlatives he constantly receives off a few posters, would have made no difference today.Hes an ok player not a world beater, get over it.

His positioning is very poor.For the 2nd goall, probably the killer goal, i'm not sure what he was supposed to be doing.You could argue he was n't in the right position for the 3rd goal either. Hes never going to be any good, i would rather play Okores and let him sink or swim than play Clark tbh

I think Vlaar and Benteke were much more of a miss today. You can't stand off Arse, and you need to keep the ball better.Westwood probably wouldn't have improved either. Sanchez made his debut, and looked off the pace, hes not the first to do that, and won't be the last.You can get away with that against most teams, but not against Arse.

We're a one man team. I would suggest that this"bug" is not just confined to people out of the team.The whole team looks very lethargic.

I'm not sure he would get in Citeeeh or Chelsks midfield, and Arse have about 30 midfielders, so Lplop, Spuds, Ure teams?....not sure. I think he will sign a new contract, and i think he will get better, and possibly be a top 4 player for us. Not sure his touch is as good as it was when he 1st signed, before he got injured, but hes the best we have, and a likeable player, so hope he remains. On a side note, with Arse having all the afore mentioned midfielders, wouldn't surprise me if Oxlade-Chamberlain becomes surplus to requirements, could be worth a punt in Jan.

As a team we need to retain the ball better, all of the team. The midfield had a better balance yday than at any other time last year, and i think Richardson contributes greatly to that as well.With Sanchez coming into the team, i think we are going to see quite a bit of rotation in the midfield. I'm not over convinced about Westwood but i like his attitude to the game.His corners, and partic his free kicks were very good yday, and he has obviously worked at his game.Competition is good for a team, and an improving Westwood will benefit us.

Wheres all his critics today? MOM yday, a young lad who always gives 100%, might not be the best, but certainly not as bad as some on here seem to think.Game was made for him yday tbh, but his interception just before H/T was crucial. Well played.

Best midfielder for me yday.His 1st time passing, and his movement was something we haven't had in midfield for a long time. Its amazing how a bit of competition brings out the best in players.

The midfield will eventually be Delph , Sanchez and Cleverley.If Westwood is as good as some of you seem to think, then he retain his place, but i have my doubts. What annoys me is that if Westwood has an ok game, like against Newcastle and Hull, then he is talked up to such a ridiculous degree that it becomes irritating.For me , in all 3 games Delph and Richardson have been better.

Footballers thugs in the 70s? Brian Little, Andy Gray, Chico, Pat Mcmahon, Alex Cropley? All lovely footballers who would walk into most Prem teams now. 76/77 was the best Villa team i have ever seen.

I think you have to take with a pinch of salt some of the stories abound on transfer day.Did he really ask for £80k per week, and what if he did, we will only pay him what we believe he is worth., As for the player, he has a lot to prove, and that is good for us.He will come in to a winning team, and i think his energy and positivity will improve us.I actually think Richardsons energy has mad a massive difference this season, and its no coincidence that Delph and Westwood have looked better players because of it. For me the midfield last season lacked strength, power and penetration.I think the signings of Sanchez and Cleverley have rectified some of them deficiences. When you see McArthur going for £7m, Rodwell for £10m, and Borini valued at £13/4m, then the value of Cleverley isn't too bad imho. Its a loan with a view to buy as far as i understand.

Good movement, and good energy. No coincidence that the midfield looks a better unit with a player in who actually makes runs off the ball. A good free.

They reckon Januzaj might be one of the players out of Ure. Now some bloke was on TBAR about 2 months ago saying we were sold, but the new owners wanted to keep it quiet until after the transfer window, that we would get 2 or 3 low level loans in, and then 2 £10m ish youngish exciting players coming in the last 2 days. Now if Cleverley is one, then maybe a player like Januzaj might be a statement of intent.........heres hoping anyway.

To put it into context Leicester are apparently interested in buying McGoldrick for £8m, so maybe its not such a bad deal.

If Chelsk bring Remy in then they have to release another foreigner..............could be worthwhile going for Salah.

I know tom, but we can dream. Buy Cleverley, get Townsend on loan with view to a permanent, swap Bent/Gabby for Gayle at Palace, and sorted now.
