Noo, you’ve missed the point of what I was saying... I was saying that hourihane has been tied down to a new contract because we know what he can do in the championship, and is one of those that we are likely to be able to keep in the event of us being relegated.

This isn't happening - would take a silly amount of money. Easily £50m upwards - i'd actually be disappointed if it was less than £60m. If some of the players are being sold for what they are, then, that's the figure that seems realistic to me. It's all about how we value him in terms of what he brings to the team, Purslow has already said he is a model signing for Aston Villa. We'd need to be able to find that again, and be given the resources to do so in the time that that we have left to shop. I'm confident McGinn will be playing for Aston Villa next season.

We know Hourihane can deliver in the Championship. We are yet to find out whether he can deliver in the Premier League. Which, I think, is why we have tied him down to a new contract in case we are relegated again. You'd expect us to have to sell some of the players we have signed (plus McGinn/Grealish are likely to leave), so ensuring we have the likes of Hourihane who knows what to expect from the league below, means we give ourselves a better chance of coming back up. Probably a smart move really!

Jeez. How is this team gonna work?! Part of me thinks we are only getting Luiz for the season...so we are bringing Nakamba in as preparation...? Signing both, is a bit odd to me. I’m literally at a loss with the team at the moment... I have no idea on how to piece it together. A little part of me wants us to stop signing new players!

Xcaret near Cancun was a great day out. Quality show at the end as well. Probably one of the best things we did in Cancun. Chichen-Itza was also very cool and definitely worth seeing if you are interested in a little culture. We took a catamaran to Isla Mujeres - would definitely recommend. Beautiful beach over there, hire a golf cart to drive around the entire island. LA and San Fran are both great. Glad that you have booked Alcatraz as that was such an eye opening experience - really surreal. Loved it. Make sure you check out Chinatown as well. Never been to NYC or Hawaii so can’t help you there. Enjoy. Sounds like an epic trip.

I don’t think we will either. I also don’t think we need to. I’d be more than happy to go with Steer and Kalinic. Think we definitely need a striker now, if Louis and Trezeguet are indeed ‘done’. Then, I reckon we need to sell a couple... if we can.

Amazes me that people are still discussing Sturridge... its almost as if you refuse to listen to Smith or Purslow, and accept that we are going down a new path. Sturridge is so far away from the types of signings we are making, or are going to be making so long as Smith and Purslow are involved with club. If he was to join, I would be amazed that we have chosen to do that, and also a bit disappointed. Please move on, its depressing reading these posts. Was hoping for more ambition from you lot now.

That bit was just an exaggeration. You said players will take advantage of this new rule - basically, what I am saying is, I think the referee will know if players are kicking the ball at him, so they can get a free kick..

I think that is the key isn’t it, I’ve seen it branded around a few places - are Villa going to ‘do a fulham’... one interesting graphic showed that from the last six promoted sides to spend £50m or more, only one club has been relegated. who was that one.... you guessed it. Fulham..

@bobzy @alreadyexists Both very true. It’s easy to forget that our very core (pretty much) was made up of on loan players. Was always going to be difficult. Thankfully we have secured Mings and Anwar - both were crucial signings in my opinion. Hause on top of that. I just hope we don’t get the whole - ohh it’s taking ages for players to gel and all that stuff. We had that scenario already when we signed all the Jordan’s...

I can’t help but be a tiny bit concerned that we are signing too many new players, and changing too much from what we had last season, which got us promoted after a 10 game winning streak. When has it ever worked for a team changing so much playing personnel? Especially one coming up from the division below? Dont get me wrong, exciting signings being made. All of this is great fun...
