  1. He's not going to go on loan to sit on the bench, not when Liverpool have such under pressure defenders and he would fancy his chances at breaking in at last there.
  2. It means that he was making a cheeky comment that playing against him now won't help, given that we are playing them Saturday. Yes, Trent has little insights of advanced knowledge, but there's no need to analyse every little thing he says ;-)
  3. I wonder if the club shop have printed any Tonev shirts since he signed.. He was underwhelming to begin with, and has slowly slid into fans celebrating him leaving.
  4. Fonte wants to see out his contract and move back home. I think that on a free transfer he won't have much problem getting an offer from Porto or Sporting and then he'll have CL football too.
  5. They didn't have 9m when they were in the PL. They've got that from the money they earnt in the PL and parachute payments.
  6. Will take a draw for certain. Palace have had a good summer though and I think their attack will be too much for us. Just depends whether our attack can get into them.. Hoping to see Gestede and Traore play big parts. Grealish will make the bench, don't think Gil will.
  7. I picked Mitrovic for my draft team. After 2 games, 12 minutes and 2 yellow cards I had to swap him.. Wijnaldum is a brilliant player though. Know knowing about the new chap but he's gotta be better than Cabella
  8. If they sell Berahino, the deal will include Fazio, which would leave us clear to go for Lescott. In which case, hands off Berahino Spurs ya bastards!
  9. #TaylorMkIIout You laugh but giving a 9 year deal to a defender the wrong side of 30 seems silly.
  10. Deserved. Still not convinced he should be our first choice righty back, but right now he is. Definitely a solid squad player and very useful, be interesting to see if he can kick on and make himself a proper right back.
  11. Remember Martial? About 200 pages ago in this very thread. Well Chelsea rumoured to bid £39m for him. Wonder why we didn't get him..
  12. As has been said before though, to make a profit he'd have to have seriously raised his value which means he'd have been fantastic for us. They'd have to have a buyer lined up, pay agent fees and other transfers shizzle, pay his wages for a little while, then more agent fees for a seperate transfer. In all this the player would have to be happy being carted around for Barcelona to make a quick profit.
  13. He must have thought them signing Weimann was an attempt to get the best out of him. I know I did.
  14. I agree but I think people have to realise that because they're at Barcelona doesn't mean they're Barcelona quality. Their academy is good, and they can cherry pick from the majority of clubs, but they still take on a lot of young prospects and a lot simply don't make it. Whilst I'm not playing Adama down, I know he was highly thought of there, we do need to be a little careful of always thinking that Barcelona squad player = world class. Just because their team is impossible to get into isn't a reason to immediately assume they'd get into any other team.
  15. Football manager? I am rubber, you are glue....How appropriate, you fight like a cow! Southampton have Pelle, Rodriquez and Long. That gives them good options. I don't see why they'd be selling Pelle, their first choice.
  16. Unfortunately there are so many crap transfer 'sources' out there and (rightly) black listed, most of the credible ones are pretty late to the party with us. You get the feeling that by the time there's a proper link the player will have already been photographed 27 times at bodymore Heath or is on his way to another club. The potential to talk about the likelihood of a transfer is very short these days..
  17. Darder is a central midfielder, no? This would give us Westwood, Gana, Sanchez, Veretout and him battling for places. Whilst I love the depth of the potential squad, I do worry whether bringing in so many at once just works against the settling in. Gana, Westwood and Veretout would be our first choice central midfield at the moment (assuming 4-3-3), so I'd rather see them given a run and a chance to settle a partnership without throwing more rotation in. I'm getting concerned that our team won't 'gel' until it's too late by introducing something new every other game.
  18. The clubs who've sold big have also bought big. Baggies sold no one and made club record signing. Newcastle sold no one and bought Mitrovoc and Wijnaldum, among others.. City 49m sterling, let others go quite cheap. 50m from player sales means our net is always going to be quite low. What's good is that it's money that has been reinvested back into the team. It would have been easy to fob us off with Kozak as a ready made Benteke and just replace Delph. That was what we all feared and the fact the very opposite has happened has made this an excellent transfer window regardless of 'net spend' or comparisons with other clubs
  19. Reus is a lot faster than people give him credit for. And if that 'hitting the ball with the other ball' video is real, then ball control that none of our players will ever get close to. I'd be very happy if he becomes our 'poor mans Reus' though, because if he's half the player Reus is he'll be our best player.
  20. I can see Ayew getting a bit of a break with Adama coming in. Apart from that I don't think Tim will tinker much unless there's fitness problems. Long term though I think we'll see more of Gestede up top, Gil in behind, with 2 of Adama, Ayew, Sinclair, Grealish and Gabby wide. A proper Front 4, exciting stuff.
  21. You're just giving in under the Persia to join in now.
  22. And a clean sheet record of 9 in 10, right? Sunderland though.. I would happily drive him to Sunderland myself. No way he'll get in the team now with Amavi being, you know.. brilliant.. and Tim seems to like Bennett as backup so he won't play here. Signing Richardson to help with defensive problems is like trying to increase the egg laying output of your hens by introducing a resident fox.
  23. BT S(p)ort is suddenly tempting. I'm with Sky Broadband and have no complaints with it. And I hate the idea that their bullying tactic would work - but.. well... I want the football..
  24. Well, the clever people on here who looked at our books when they were published seemed to think we could spend, as a club, 18-20m without dipping into Lerner's pockets. If we can spend that, without even running at a loss that year, then surely FFP can't prevent that? I thought the point of FFP was to stop clubs spending 30-40m outside their means and hitting financial trouble. Or at least, that's the way the idea the sold.
