  1. I'd take 13th-15th as its progress. But 12th and upwards should be our aim with the players we've bought in. Until we know how these players will adapt to the league and gel, it's just so hard to say.
  2. I missed out on this guy on my draft fantasy football. Gutted. Left it too late thinking no one would think to pick him up. Reckon he'll he an assist king this season.
  3. I'd take top 15 for now. Which if our current squad gels we are already there. 3-5 year plan should be cement ourselves back as a top 10 team. Under the current regime, I feel this is achievable. Thoughts are that we can spend ~20m a year without affecting Randy's pocket, so if he's content to put a little in, and Fox can continue to grow us to increase that revenue for further investment, then I'm actually happy with the current state of the club. Of course, this willingness of Randy's to suddenly be interested might just be to polish the asset to sell, so long term he might not be wanting to continue as we currently are anyway. Takeover would be good. But only for the right owner. I'd rather Lerner/Fox/Almatadt than Venky's MkII
  4. I think there's worry about morale in the camp when paying a player 100k a week. A loan fee to cover the wages and the public knowledge that villa can only afford 40k a week will put us in a better bartering position when it comes to new contracts for the likes of Clark. Surely better for Levy too? Cause it's immediate money in the bank.
  5. Again, nobody is saying this. Your post is just as stupid as those who you appear to be quoting (which is nobody).
  6. Yeah. Aranguiz was arguably the player of Copa America. That's an unbelievable signing for them.
  7. What?! One, I would rather a 31 year old Ade ovee a 98 year old Berba. Secondly, Berbatov couldn't command 100k in his prime. They're both lazy, but Berbatov has more ability IMO. Meaning age doesn't play a huge role, they'll both be pretty immobile. Secondly) He's been at Man Utd (110k pw) and Monaco, not exactly known for bartering hard on their players wages. Whether he's worth 100k or not, people don't tend to take huge pay cuts when they move jobs. Fulham made him their main player, and could offer him a fancy lifestyle in the swankiest part of London. I wouldn't be surprised if he was on 80 odd there.
  8. Trippier has had one season in a relegated team. Dier started well but faded. Selling Walker would be silly IMO. Maybe that's why it's only to be a loan (if there is anything in it)
  9. Is this purely based on Colymore's tweet? Or has there been some genuine link to Walker? I'd love him here, but if it is based on that tweet I'd argue that Walker, here on loan for one season, wouldn't really be seen as 'coming home'.
  10. If it's 100k a week, I'd take Berbatov over Adabeyor. But I think we're hoping to get a chunk of Adabeyor's wages. Berbatov won't be available any cheaper than 100k pw IMO
  11. He'll be club captain this year. Not team captain and will rarely play, but given the turnaround of personnel and his long standing affinity with the club, be silly to not make him club captain and keep his experience and passion, whilst keeping his lack of general ability on the bench.
  12. Maybe Vlaar? after he got no offers from anyone, never mind a 'higher level'..
  13. Gary Cahill? Excellent. (Before there's a meltdown, I'm joking) Sadly.
  14. Wages too. He put a lot of average players on really quite high wages.
  15. 27 and unproven in the top flight. Like the look of him but he's not a young talent and he's not experienced. I guess what he will be is desperate to succeed at the top level. Barring last season (where his record was excellent) he's been quite mediocre. Looking forward to seeing what he can offer though.
  16. Also - @GFN_France: Nantes President Waldemar Kita: "Veretout will surely sign his contract (with Aston Villa) tomorrow." (RMC)
  17. Quite the opposite. @SkySportsNewsHQ: BREAKING NEWS: Sky Sources - Nantes midfielder Jordan Veretout to have medical at Aston Villa tomorrow #SSNHQ
  18. It's true. I have no insider info on this whatsoever yet I feel if I posted 'the deals off, he's going back to France' there would be a meltdown.
  19. I refuse to take the piss until this chap signs for us (or at least, not for Leicester). Be embarrassing to call their logic dillusional and then they turn out correct.
  20. Buzzing for tomorrow now. When I saw Australia were batting this morning I feared a day of watching England scrape their way up towards a huge total. Now I get to (hopefully) see England take a solid lead and should get to see Jimmy and co have a bit of time at Australia's top order.

    Top Gear

They wouldn't have been. From what I've heard they've been wanting out of Top Gear for quite some time. They'll all make a killing doing something fresh and new. Or go to Nerflix and make the exact same show for 10 times the money.
  22. Berbatov and Adabeyor?.. One of the two, great. Both? Can't see the point. Expensive and lazy, but oozing class. Room for one of those in the team but not two.
  23. Sorry, who is this mong? I'm still waiting for his 'b)'
