KHV
@ Ginko - Didn't Ireland (the player) stop playing for Ireland (the international team) because he didnt get on with some other players?? As for who those 'other players' were exactly i dnno.. i thought he stopped playing international football cos he couldnt be arsed? he stopped playing international football because he was being bullied by senior players and didnt feel the need to put up with that shit that sounds like a load of cack if u ask me? NowDoINotLikeThat
Ah right So long as werent Dunne etc -who is from Dublin - dont think Given is (?) etc ... And guess Ireland end of day played best football at Man City with them so doubt theres much beef there ..or hope . Ireland if knuckles down could be like a new signing ...i just dont see him being a McLeish type of player tho. Guess we'll soon find out either way. diehardvillan
Ireland has described his brief international career as a 'ticking time bomb,' but rumours that his decision to quit was based on dressing-room bullying have been dismissed. The Cork-born player simply insists that regional rivalries in Ireland, and his dissatisfaction with levels of professionalism, are the root of his disenchantment. He said: "All that stuff [bullying] is ridiculous and Robbie Keane contacted me saying, 'A lot of us are getting bad press, getting slated, because of all these stories that are coming out.' "I have a great relationship with all of them. Even now, when I see the other Irish players, I always shake their hands. GaztonVilla
The stories about the hair plugs being pulled out are true. SI was, naturally, unhappy at that but it was the reaction of Steve Staunton and FAI bods that was behind his decision not to play for ROI any more. GaztonVilla
This page is surreal, are we really talking about a grown up here or some ten year old kid that doesn't want to go to school? Well, put it this way.. If you went to work and your colleagues held you down on the floor and pulled your hair out, only for your boss to laugh it off and tell you that he'll only deal with the situation as long as you write a poem about baldness and recite it to an assembled group of your colleagues, how long would you continue to work there? Bazdavies79
Firstly, I find that story a bit bizarre to say the least, and don't believe it for one second. If there was verbal bullying where I worked I'd deal with it in a dignified grown up manner.
TrentVilla Posted July 18, 2011 Moderator Share Posted July 18, 2011 Baz, you don't have to believe it but I believe it is true and what is more Glazton though not one to shout about his ITK status is very much that when it comes to this particular player. Bizarre? yes but completely true I believe. As for dealing with bullying, for a start it wasn't verbal bullying was it the above incident goes way beyond that. Besides Ireland did try and deal with it in a dignified manner, he spoke to the manager who refused to do anything so he retired from International football. He hasn't disclosed events to the press or the players or the manager. You might not believe the events that took place, you might not think they are sufficient to be deemed bullying but I'm certain they did and what is more if they did I actually think Ireland has acted in a dignified and mature manner. You trying to say that you just choose to be weird and different do you? Ireland being a gimp? How does he do that then? I really cant tell if you're being sarcastic or not. villa_shere
I would be suprised if Ireland came good at Villa. I think he is destined for a career in Turkey or somewhere like that. He put in several shoody performances in the league last year. The amount of l;eague games he has had for the past 3 years explains a lot about the fella. Would like for him to step up his game but can see him being hard to shift
