Starting at £269 though seems steep in comparison to the Nexus 7 and Kindle Fire. It looks like a decent tablet, but really it's neither here nor there for me due to it's relatively high price. But Nexus has higher res screen and more powerful processor. Though the screen is 1 inch smaller. Nexus is still best bang for your buck. Especially at 159 for the 16gb. That's frankly awesome price. About 5 of us have one and it's all positive opinions. Great device. Though word processing is not as good on a touchscreen as it is on a Laptop or physical keyboard. I got a Samsung N145 plus (upgraded to 2GB RAM) that I'm going to put on ebay, I'll be lucky to get over £100 for it. Netbooks will do porn (not HD though), football and word processing. Depends how important the word processing is though. If you need to do anything beyond making notes, don't get a tablet, they're shit for typing on. Jimzk5 Posted October 24, 2012 Share Posted October 24, 2012 The word processor is more for the missus to write her work evaluations on, so its not important for me, I just need something to browse the net, stream football and YouTube etc, hence my relluctance to buy a laptop. As others have said if you want to play a few games, and watch videos and browse the net then a tablet pc is ideal. For word processing you really need a laptop or net book. That's a first and you'd expect given they ignored plenty of how the Nexus is superior that Google will gleefully point this out on Monday. Don't apple know when they acknowledged Samsung in their court case it boosted Samsung awareness. They are doing the same here with the Nexus 7. I'm looking at getting both my girls a tablet for Xmas and was looking at the Nexus 7 or iPad Mini. I take it from this that you would definitely go for the Nexus 7? darrenm Posted October 25, 2012 Share Posted October 25, 2012 Excuse me if I ramble. The biggest difference between the 2 is iOS against Android. At one time they were comparable, now Android is far out in front. iOS hasn't really changed in the last 4 years and some parts are actually worse. The problem of getting locked into iTunes is another iIssue. After that, the hardware is possibly comparable, but the Nexus 7 has 4 CPU cores vs 2 for the mini, the lack of a bezel edge on the mini is going to make holding it a pain, as you'll be pressing the screen a lot, Nexus has a standard connector where you can plug into any computer running any OS and browse the device without iTunes.
