It certainly is a risky ploy from Lambert not spending some of his 20million summer budget on proven PL players. If it backfires and we go down, he'll be a massive failure at VP. If however we stay up, the future could be looking very bright as the youngsters develop and the foreign recruits get more used to the PL. It's not the route most managers would have gone down, but he's backed himself, let's hope it's with good reason.

Diame is an extremely limited player - like a taller version of Reo-Coker.

Diame cost nothing and he is not limited at all. Westwood on the other hand ....

My concern is our lack of goals. 4 in 7 league games. Add in the fact that our best goalscorer has been sidelined it is worrying.

Cant score and cant defend but we are young and hungry and run about a lot

Sure glad you can judge Westwood's relative ability from 65 odd minutes of work. Maybe RL should hire you for the scouting network. You would save him a lot of money. I bet you could scout 200 players in a weekend.

That does sum us up quite well at the moment, sadly.

I think there's a LOT of potential there. But potential doesn't win matches.

Will we win enough to keep us up this season? I think so. But the team need to start gelling together at the least. We must pick up points in our next 2 games or we're going to be in a lot of trouble.

I am hoping that come January transfer window PL will be looking to bring in players of the calibre of Dempsey who we tried to get in August. He is the sort of player we need (as well as a Diame-type player) to bolster our midfield.

Am clinging on to the fact that we will hopefully have a better 2nd half to the season than first - and much like Wigan we can scrape by and get some rhythm going with our results.

I don't necessarily agree that it is all average players on the move but CI is certainly right that anyone who moves, does so at a premium in January. But then again it's also not ideal to be strengthening from a position of weakness, but it might have to happen. I don't know why or where the Diamé name cropped up but he is a very good player who West Ham frankly shouldn't have.

We aren't ever going to win the league again.

We are very unlikely to win a cup for at least 3 years.

I want to enjoy watching us, and I am at the minute, quite exciting I think. Ireland will only improve us when he's back.

Still not worried about this. When we were looking shit in 2011 Randy spend big on Makoun and Bent, and Bent's goals got us to mid-table. Last season we were not looking as bad mid season, but McLeish is a specialist in under-performing in the second half of the season.

If we're in the shit at Christmas, I expect Randy will chuck £20-30m in. If he doesn't, he's going to lose that amount plus more. It's a simple economic, and even the Lerner haterz on here should see that.

Very concerned. Yesterday was a new low. We look like a mid-table Championship side.

A 1-0 away defeat at Fulham was a new low? Really. Fulham are very strong at home and it was no surprise they edged it but had we have gotten a draw it wouldn't have been an injustice.

As for relegation it is certainly a big worry. I'd have hoped to have around 8 - 10 points by now.

Norwich at home next week is a massive game for us now. We need a win and hopefully if we can get that it could be the springboard to get something at Sunderland.

I have always thought that at Christmas we are likely to be in or around the bottom 3. I do however think the second half of the season will be much better once all the new signings have bedded in and the squad as a whole has gelled and got used to the way the manager wants them to play. We will also need to spend big on a couple of proven quality players in January.

I think we will go down unfortunately. I'm kind of settled on that fact now. Maybe I can be surprised at the end of season and we will stay up. Doubt it though, we are a complete shambles and cannot defend for beans.

We run about a lot though which is good for the old fitness levels.
