thegiddygambler
Wasn't too impressed first but I'm starting to see the benefit of a month's spell at Cov to warm him up for us in January. I'm dreaming of him singlehandedly winning us the FA CUP! Anybody remember Mark Robins 1990???
CI
You're missing the point, I'm saying he should be on our first team NOW, TODAY, not the reserves and NOT Coventry in the Championship where he's likely to pick up some bad habits or another injury or played out of position by their inept manager

AstonMartin82
-2 A month with Coventry - as long as he gets the games - will give him vastly more game time than we can give him and should help him toughen up and mature as a player. +1 *

Dodgyknees
The major plus for Thorn was the “fantastic performance” of 19-year-old Gardner, who is on loan at the Ricoh Arena for the next month from Aston Villa. “He was exceptional,” said the manager. Rob182
GARY GARNDER will be a real asset to Coventry City during his loan spell, according to City boss Andy Thorn. Gardner wiped out the Brighton opener with his first goal in senior football on his debut for the Sky Blues - and was City's star man in the 2-1 defeat on Saturday. The major plus for Thorn was the “fantastic performance” of 19-year-old Gardner, who is on loan at the Ricoh Arena for the next month from Aston Villa. “He was exceptional,” said the manager. “He’s got so much quality that he can play in any midfield position but I like him there, driving forward, using that great engine. He’s going to be a real asset for us while we’ve got him here.” Garnder almost snatched a point when his late header was deflected wide and Thorn was adamant City should have been given a penalty for handball against Romain Vincelot. “Gary was really unlucky,” said Thorn. “His header was going in and their defender didn’t know anything about it; he wasn’t even looking when it hit him. “As far as the penalty goes, I haven’t got any doubt – when the ball drops and bounces up he leans into it and handles it. “I couldn’t understand why the referee didn’t see it or, if he did, it wasn’t given. "I asked the fourth official, although I don’t know why I bothered because he put three minutes up for time added on and it should have been a lot more than that with all that was going on. “It would have been ten at the Ricoh but that’s the way things are going at the moment: everything we do wrong gets punished, and anything we get we’ve got to earn. But we won’t come through this by feeling sorry for ourselves.”
wiggyrichard
With everybody ( - 1) raving about Gardner, why the f has he not had a look in for us yet and been sent to Cov? Alex McLeish has already answered this... He’s not played a lot games, but the boy’s certainly got a lot of talent,” “Along with guys like Kevin MacDonald and Gordon Cowans, who know him inside out, we know this is the right time for him to go out. “He’s not quite ready for the first team yet. He scored a hat-trick against Ajax (in the NextGen series) and people are clamouring for him to be in the first team. “He’s playing against boys at his own age level for goodness sake. We want to do things for Gary in the right way. “We hope he goes in to get more experience at first-team level and comes back and integrate himself into the squad. I could have him hanging about the squad, maybe on the fringes and getting on for five or ten minutes. He’s very grounded and he trusts what we’re doing for his career. “He’s slightly different from Craig. He has some great qualities as does Craig but in different ways. Gary will take the ball and pass it, he’s more of a playmaker.’’ I think the Villa backroom staff are 100% doing the right thing with Gary.
