But to be far to Mcleish this is a maasive club to come to so he is hardly going to reject it is he main blame has to go to randy and faulkner (failer) Maybe so but don't forget he has managed a club that is 'larger' than us. Did he? Rangers??? That massive scottish team who have one opponent every season Lets face it all they had do do was beat Celtic and he lost 7 derbies in a row and went on an 11 game streak of not winning before being sacked. 11 games in the Scotish prem with Rangers!!!!!!!!! VillaCas Posted June 16, 2011 Share Posted June 16, 2011 In anycase, surely this is not such a bad thing for us, and actually far worse for the Blues, how can noses ever claim to be better or bigger than us when their most successful manager of all time wanted the job at Villa so much that he resigned from the sty. Leaving the great unwashed in that way is something that should surely deserve us to hold him in higher esteem. As I said before, Ron Saunders is a Villa hero, and he left us and went to the blues, as did other legends such as Mortimer and Bremner, I think no less of them for that. He's our manager now, so let's just give him a chance. That doesn't make sense, under your criteria he will be a SHA hero??? I've already had the Agent McLeish texts. If you mean Rangers he was hounded out of there. The first man to finish third in a two-horse race I never said he was not. But head to head against O'Neill was he not 7-4 up on trophys even thogh MON spent loads?. And Paul Le Guen did brilliantly after him didn't he? When you are a prem manager the money is so important but the ego and reputation is. He already is damaged goods to an extent. He is as much a championship manager as he is a Premiership manager . I bet he can't believe his luck that us mugs are running after him. Having said that can't blame him for wanting the job. He would have been high up on alot of Prem teams lists if they lost their manager (top 6 excepted). Strange when SSN have just claimed that talks were done and dusted last night between him and Randy Lerner and that sources said he's agreed a 3 year deal.... NO more talks between him and Randy Lerner today because it was all done and dusted last night. That was quick! In fact didn't I read in the newspapers that McCleish has gone back to his family on holiday in Sardinia. Strange one that, surely they'd need to get their heads around which players they need and maybe working on transfer targets... Maybe I'm barking up the wrong tree but there is definitely something not right with all this! It's nearly 7pm and Villa have had ALL day to put something official on the OS. They know the fans need clarification once and for all of matters so we can all put this to bed and move on. hants-villa Posted June 16, 2011 Share Posted June 16, 2011 I think the point is though that the fans have a massive emotional tie to the club and want to be top dogs and win things (and were teased with this for the last 5 years) but the board have a more business like approach and if asked off the record would probably be happy with a top 10 finish every season. I think he will do a good job, yes. But I always like to live my life looking at things optimistically and giving people a chance, rather that willing them to **** it up just so I can say "told you so". Why not just put this to bed now. Ok, we know a Press Conference isn't going to happen this week, but at least make a statement so Villa fans know where they stand. Lerner must be hoping the initial unreast among fans will fade if he lets some time pass before going public with his appointment. That or Julie is right.
