maqroll Posted March 21, 2010 Posted March 21, 2010 Do you think that the integrity of some matches in the Premiership are compromised by dirty refs, bought players, etc...?
BOF Posted March 21, 2010 Moderator Posted March 21, 2010 No. Sh1te refs and diving words removed are one thing (or 2 things?). But actual pre-meditated corruption? No I genuinely don't think so.
Wol. Posted March 21, 2010 Posted March 21, 2010 Yes, I think players, linesman and refs can all be brought and are.
AVFC-Prideofbrum Posted March 21, 2010 Posted March 21, 2010 No. To think otherwise in my opinion is just absolutely stupid. Bad refereeing decisions happen all the time and there is rarely a game where a side get's absolutely no decisions! If you taped a game and looked back on every decision, I bet there'd be fouls for either side which weren't or non fouls for fouls etc.. I don't get how anyone could come to the decision of yes.
CarewsEyebrowDesigner Posted March 21, 2010 Posted March 21, 2010 I don't get how anyone could come to the decision of yes. £££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££ That's what it's all about, in any buisness in any part of the world, when there are vast sums of money floating about there will be corruption.
AVFC-Prideofbrum Posted March 21, 2010 Posted March 21, 2010 I reckon people would have been caught by now. It's not as if they don't investigate on a regular basis.
CarewsEyebrowDesigner Posted March 21, 2010 Posted March 21, 2010 I reckon people would have been caught by now. It's not as if they don't investigate on a regular basis. Caught by who? The world isn't this lovely justice for all place people seem to think it is. With the amount of money the FA generates it can pretty much do what it wants.
AVFC-Prideofbrum Posted March 21, 2010 Posted March 21, 2010 What so you think the FA are fixing matches?
CarewsEyebrowDesigner Posted March 21, 2010 Posted March 21, 2010 I think they have it in their best interests that certain teams should remain near the top for reasons other than what happens on the pitch
fran_villa Posted March 21, 2010 Posted March 21, 2010 Yes I do,and I also think some players are on drugs.
kurtsimonw Posted March 21, 2010 Posted March 21, 2010 No. I don't think there's any fixing going on, I think referee's are just 'scared' of bigger teams and generally poor at their job.
PompeyVillan Posted March 21, 2010 Posted March 21, 2010 No. Sh1te refs and diving words removed are one thing (or 2 things?). But actual pre-meditated corruption? No I genuinely don't think so. 'This'. Apart from Phil Dowd...
Mr_Dogg Posted March 21, 2010 Posted March 21, 2010 No, I don't think so. But referees are influenced by the media and managers towards the bigger clubs and players.
4Serious Posted March 21, 2010 Posted March 21, 2010 Nah, no way. There's no Tim Donaghy out there, and if there was he'd be caught eventually. Remember Calciopoli? People aren't stupid enough to take such risks when literally millions are scrutinizing their decisions world-wide. I reckon it happens all the time in the Eastern European leagues, and wouldn't be shocked if some no-hopers down in League 2 decided to have their friends make them some money and started throwing games, but the Premier League? Not a chance in hell.
sbaldie1 Posted March 21, 2010 Posted March 21, 2010 No, I don't think so. But referees are influenced by the media and managers towards the bigger clubs and players. Yep, thats what I think too
P3te Posted March 21, 2010 Posted March 21, 2010 Directly fixing? No. No brown envelopes or anything like that imo. Especially not for players... Youd be looking for more than a career's earnings for throwing a game to make it worthwhile, and that aint gonna happen Indirect, unintentional fixing based on media influence? Yeh, definitely
