It's my wife's 40th soon and I arranged a surprise get together with her uni friend's this weekend just gone.

One of them volunteered that she'd paid off the mortgage on her £500k house and had just bought a brand new 4x4 Mercedes out right.

She's only 39 and apparently plan's to retire at 50 and then just go travelling.

Which is nice for her I guess.

Would have been nicer if I hadn't had to pay for absolutely everything all weekend and she'd put her hand in her pocket at some point.

Why you think she’s got so much money

There's only one way a woman of 39 could have made that much dough.

She is married to a lawyer.

No comment on your other point as my wife might somehow read this.

Buying a new Merc shows a lack of taste anyway ;)

Being completely honest. They're both lawyers and both Partners in some well known firms.

She actually makes more than him as she does Commercial Law.

Agreed about the Merc.

Fair play to them. Both work hard and enjoying the fruits of their labour. Thats how it should be.

I used to be a financial advisor. I don't know any more about what limits are on this and that, but I could certainly help with general principles. Feel free to ask on here or PM.

Become an influencer. You don't have to be influential, just shallow, entitled and have botox and lip filler. Only real ongoing cost is 1kg of makeup daily.
