U21 Development League 2022/2023

FP stats updated. Some interesting scores this week.  Leeds suffer their first defeat of the season which means despite their amazing start, Southampton areonly 3pts behind them now.  A mental scoreline of 5-7 at Eppleton Colliery between Sunderland and Middlesbrough. Not a score you see every day. Boro have now been in a 5-7 and on the wrong side of an 8-1 and a 5-2 this season.  Apart from that, we continue our improving form (by using better players) and the rest went to form.

Friday 06/01
19:00 Norwich City(5->3) 3-0 Stoke City(10)
19:00 Notts Forest(4)    1-0 Leeds Utd(1)
19:00 Southampton(2)     3-0 Derby County(11)

Monday 09/01
19:00 Sunderland(9)      5-7 Middlesbrough(7->6)
19:00 Newcastle(6->8)    0-2 Aston Villa(8->7)

Good to see Bogarde back after not being involved with either the senior or U21s last weekend, was concerned he was injured again, seems all our strikers are missing at the moment, hopefully a some of them back for Tuesday. A few playing today could do with loans.

We have a new league leader. Saints go marching on and Leeds fall at home to the Baggies who climb to 4th and bring themselves into contention with a game in hand. Forest also loitering with intent although they've played 1 more than most. Derby Boro was postponed.

19:00 Southampton(2->1) 4-1 Newcastle Utd(8)

Sunday 15/01

Monday 16/01
19:00 Derby County(11)  P-P Middlesbrough(6)

It would seem that Caolan McBride is on trial at Sheffield Wednesday (linkypoo)

Quote

Sheffield Wednesday have brought Aston Villa’s young midfielder Caolan McBride in on trial, it has been reported by The Star.

Sheffield Wednesday are prolific in offering young players the chance to come in on trial with the U21s group.

The Star has reported that Aston Villa’s 19-year-old midfielder McBride is also in on trial with the club.

The Northern Irish youngster started for Sheffield Wednesday’s U21s against Coventry City on Monday, a game they ultimately lost 1-0. He wasn’t the only trialist featured either, with Sheffield United prodigy Tyrese Bailey-Green also featuring.

It is said it remains unknown how long McBride will be spending with the Owls, but new additions to the U21s group are on the radar.

Friday 27/01

Wonder if they will organise a behind closed doors friendly to maintain fitness and tempo seeing as that's The FA Cup 4th round weekend.

We do have a game on the 24th of this month away to Tividale in the Birmingham Senior Cup, and if we win that will have to play Alvechurch in the Quarter-Finals before the 25th of next month.

Yeah we're starting to come up against the bigger fish on the horizon now alright.
