If he had to play long term our season would be over IMO.

That's the kind of hyperbole that isn't needed. Criticise his performance by all means, this is just cruel however.

Criticise his performance and get told he's being made a scapegoat? Give it a rest man.

Call things as you see them. Not how you think you should.

Saying our season would be over with  Olsen in goal for the majority of it is hyperbolic BS.

Did you not see him get the ball trapped at his legs last night that nearly ended up in an OG. Did you see the Brentford game last year?

Yeah, I did. Nobody says he doesn't make mistakes.

What I have also seen is Cash miss a virtual open goal against Newcastle, Ollie miss a sitter against Hibs and Zaniolo butcher a 2 on 1 against Burnley, but they do not receive the vitriol from the bedwetters.

I would love to see him upgraded, but as I said before, by who. And nobody has answered that.

I maintain that he’s a decent keeper. I think he’s more old school - a good shot stopper, but has limited attributes for the modern game.

I don’t think our season would be over if we had to rely on him for a long period of time, but I do think we’d need to change our approach and focus less on building from the back… which would be a crying shame.

He’s not going to be replaced in the immediate future, so we have to support him if/when he plays and understand we’re spoiled by having one of the world’s best keepers playing for us. Most would look far below Emi’s quality.

Don't get this either. When McLeish was manager were you behind him? He's been given so many chances and he looks so out of his depth. We are winning/drawing games despite him not because of him.

It's a fair question but I guess I just view the players slightly differently to managers. They are on the team we support and I've never agreed with booing individuals or anything like that. Thankfully I think in the stadium people do get behind everyone on the team regardless of their views most of the time.

Most of this is fiction.

Olsen is not good.

It is all my opinion, which you have every right to disagree with, except for the question about who is to replace him. If you can give me a straight answer on that we can debate it. Would appreciate an answer from you or anybody in fact.

Kept a clean sheet though. So if he makes saves is that in spite of the team also? Every player makes mistakes. He’s clearly low on confidence which is hard to build up when you don’t get a lot of game time as a backup.

So I have to give you a suggestion of a replacement to hold the opinion a player isn't good enough?

Allison at Liverpool.

I think we'd be in trouble if he had to play long term.

Season over as in I don't think we challenge for our goals if he's a regular player.

The thing that concerns me about him most is that he appears scared every time he plays. I'd understand that from a young GK, but a 33yo international, who has played all over Europe and in the WC? He should have more confidence. I think his nervousness impacts our defence.

Compare him to Pepe Reina, when he came over. He had that swagger that experience should bring.

Against a team who's wage bill is 1/30th of ours. Well done. DC Jonah is right we are a midtable team with him in goals for a large chunk of the season.

No need to get defensive , we're just having a difference in opinion😜, but to debate the subject it is helpful.

I'm guessing that your answer is facetious, but let's go with it. How are we fitting a £70m reserve goalkeeper, on £200k per week in FFP. Because you'll be the first one criticising Origi when we've sold Watkins to pay for him.

Going back to my point.

Olsen is not good enough. You think he is. Cool.

Criticising his performance isn't making him a scapegoat, it's living in reality.

He's still got support of fans for now, but we're playing with fire if he has to play many games. You can't help but hear the murmurs as he lets the ball under his foot again. It'll help no one if he's in the team making errors.

I actually think it could be because he rarely plays that he has his moments. Outfielders look rusty if they don't play for a while so why wouldn't a goalkeeper. If something did happen to Emi and Olsen had to play for a prolonged period it's plausible that we might actually see a better version of him.

Are you his agent? Or a family member?

Pepe Reina’s ability with the ball was better than some our outfield players. We just didn’t play from the back so much.

A number 2 like Reina would be ideal. Would be great if we could get Navas on a loan.
