Of all positions, these guys need games given the likelihood of benchwarming behind an elite #1. It would be good to give him another loan at a higher level next season and maybe even a PL loan the season after that. He'll be 25 y/o in the 26/27 season and could be pushing Emi (34 y/o at that point). Hard to say what will happen at that point, but it will be a nice problem to have.

bobzy
Viljami Sinisalo said his season at Exeter City has been "the best year" of his life. The Finland goalkeeper, 22, has spent the season on loan at St James Park from Aston Villa and played 50 games. He started all but one of Exeter's League One matches and helped the club reach the last 16 of the Carabao Cup, knocking out Premier League side Luton Town on the way. He was named both the players' and supporters' player of the year as he won six awards at the Grecians' end-of-season awards night. "It's been the best year of my life, the best footballing season of my life," he told BBC Radio Devon. "It's been brilliant. I owe so much to the football club and everyone around here. "All I can say is thank you and I love this football club and hopefully one day, I don't know when, I can return here." CVByrne
He'd be best signing an extension here and going out on Loan again. Then coming back to be No2 understudy to Martinez Or we do a sale with buyback if that works for us Edited May 3 by CVByrne

It'll be interesting to see where he goes from here because he's got the small matter of one of, if not the best, keepers in the world ahead of him. Emi could be number one for the next 6/7 years too. Thanks. Apologies for being late in responding to your question about 'how good he is with the ball at his feet?' Answer - improving, but still a way to go. He is now competent/comfortable playing out to the back line. But not good enough when trying to find players on the touchline further up. The Exeter goalkeeping coach agrees, saying that there are two areas to improve still on this; decision making and execution. Probably his costliest mistake of the season was trying to find someone on the wing just inside our half. It was intercepted 5-10 yards short of target and ended up in the back of our net.
AVTuco Posted June 4 VT Supporter Share Posted June 4 Bye bye Viljami. I think you'll become a very reliable keeper at the minimum. Very calm and intelligent young man.
StewieGriffin
Saw he's been linked with Celtic. He's only got 12 months left, so I assume we'll sell him. He's 22, so you'd think he'd have been in the Gauci role if we wanted to keep him here

He was interviewed on Finnish TV yesterday during half-time of the Portugal-Finland game. He said he was excited to have more than 10 clubs to choose from, and Villa wasn't mentioned in the interview, unless I missed it. I was left with a strong feeling that he's gone. He wants to be a starter and he has good options.

East London Villa Posted Friday at 20:40 Share Posted Friday at 20:40 Came on for the 2nd half for Finland vs Scotland. Conceded 2 goals (1 huge deflection, 1 no chance) but played well and a brilliant save to keep it 2-2 in the last minute. I really hope we keep hold of him and get to see him tested on loan at a higher level next season.
