Carlos Sánchez: 23 days in Espanyol to return to being the 'Rock'

His team has lined up in 5 games and has not lost with the Colombian on the court

Feb 28, 2018

The return to the Spanish football of Carlos Sanchez has been the best decision of the Colombian midfielder thinking about arriving in good shape to the World Cup of Russia 2018. In the Espanyol again took confidence and proof of this was his outstanding performance in the triumph of his team 1-0 on Real Madrid.

And Carlos Sanchez just needed 23 days to return to being that solid 'Rock' in the middle of the field. From February 4, the day that he debuted against Barcelona playing the last 5 minutes, to the game of this February 27, Sánchez has once again convinced the Iberian press of his personality and effectiveness as a trademark.

The Chocoano midfielder decided to change the air due to the lack of continuity in Fiorentina, where he played only 11 games the previous semester, nine in Serie A and two in Copa. And without a doubt that the move to Spain removed any concern about his level.

After his moments against Barça, with which there was a 1-1 draw, the Colombian did not leave the grass again: he played four full games being the midfield boss and, best of all, without receiving warnings. Strength and personality, without the need for excesses in the hard game.

And to fill with more confidence, and transmit it to his teammates, Sanchez became 'the Rock of luck' of Espanyol, because in the five games in which he had the steering wheel, the parakeet box did not lose: He had 4 draws (Barcelona, Celta, Villarreal and La Coruña) and his first win against Madrid.

Sanchez continues to consolidate and adding important minutes to be the backbone of the Colombian National Team in the World Cup.

Espanyol wants to stay permanently with Carlos Sánchez

The midfielder was loaned by Fiorentina to the Perico team until the end of the season

The great level shown by Carlos Sánchez in his return to Spanish football has made Espanyol seriously consider becoming permanent with the sporting rights of the strong midfielder. The player came to the Perico team in the midst of doubts about his level by the lack of minutes at Fiorentina in the first section of the season. However, the Colombian needed just a few days to adapt to his new club, stay with the owner and shine as he did in the victory over the powerful Real Madrid. Sánchez has the full support of coach Quique Sánchez Flores, who has given him confidence and continuity since his arrival in Cornellá. That is why the Perico team wants to keep the services of Sanchez for longer than agreed. However, the task will not be easy for the Catalan club, since from the beginning it was agreed with Fiorentina the loan was until the end of the season without the purchase option. The Man of the Colombian National Team has a market value close to the 3 million euros.

With Pellegrini as their manager, you'd think he'll have them better organized and playing with more purpose, spirit and urgency than when he was playing for us. He needs to just sit in front of the back 4 and concetrate on breaking up opposition attacks. I still think he needs to improve his concentration and work rate but he won't have a better opportunity to make it than under Pellegrini.

I wonder how much money chelsea are making loaning out Batshuayi? They will probably cover his transfer fee in loan fees by the time his contract is up. Apparently they wanted £14m to loan Drinkwater for the season ?

Strootman to Marseille from Roma done deal.

Shame he's had such horrid times with injuries. He's still a good player.

But he could have been something really special.
