2022 net migration figure revised up by 139,000

As we've been reporting, the 2022 net migration figure has been revised significantly upwards to 745,000.

In May, the 2022 figure was given as 606,000 - that was a full-year record at the time.

Today, that figure was revised upwards by 139,000 people.

1.2m arrived - 508,000 left

Some more detail from those figures:

Immigration was 1.2m

Emigration was 508,000

1.2m came to the country, but it’s the 40k on small boats that are pushing our services to breaking point.

Quote

There were 44,460 people detected arriving by small boats in the year ending June 2023, 26% higher than in the year ending June 2022. However, this increase was concentrated in the first 6 months of the period as arrivals from January to June 2023 were 10% lower than those in the same period of 2022. Just over half (53%) of arrivals in the year ending June 2023 were in the 3 months from August to October 2022. August 2022 saw the highest number of small boat arrivals (8,574) of any month since data has been collected.

Not going to vote again as they were lied to. That is not true though is it. They chose to believe known bullshitters over those dealing in facts. The mistake they made wasn't voting, it was not voting for those telling them the truth.

Seven in ten Britons support a closer relationship with the EU than we have now
As we approach the fourth anniversary of Brexit, 52% of Britons now believe that the UK leaving the EU was the wrong decision. The Labour party – likely to form the next government – have so far resisted calls to move towards rejoining the single market, despite pressure from some businesses who say this could improve the situation.

Joining the single market would allow for the free movement of goods and services between the UK, the EU and other non-EU countries who are member of the single market, like Norway and Lichtenstein. However, this would also likely mean agreeing to the free movement of people between the UK and the EU – a frightening prospect for Keir Starmer’s Labour given the role of immigration in driving the Leave vote. But is this fear justified?

Perhaps not. New YouGov data indicates that more Britons are in fact supportive of joining the single market, even under this condition, than in opposition. Just short of six in ten Britons (57%) would support the UK joining the single market, even if this meant a return to free movement, with only around one in five (22%) opposed.

The farmers are waking up to the shit new Brexit reality.

Oh dear, it's a mess. Whoda thunk it?

Well to be fair the NFU did try to tell them but in the end iirc someone did some research and worked out that the Farmers voting for Brexit were pretty much aligned 50/50 with the rest of the population and it was the big farmers that voted for and the smaller ones against

Fishermen, however....

Brexit economist Minford told them in advance.

There's a video of O'Brien skewering Jacob Yandex-Mogg on this from years ago, back in the comments.

It's just the steaming Brexit agri turd is actually being delivered now, and the farmers' reactions are hitting the press.

Yep. Everyone was warned about pretty much everything but it was branded as remoaners scaremongering.

See its much easier to just lie and say anything and to hell with the consequences than it is to tell the truth and explain why to people who basically don't want to hear it.

It's the psychology of it all.

If someone broke into your house and robbed you, you'd be livid. You want the word removed in front of you, to take it out on their hide.

The vast majority of the country have been robbed, no need to fingerprint anyone, we know who the culprits are.

Yet the silence is deafening.

The spineless subservience of the mugs.

That's another thing, they've f**ked the kids over too.

If you're the sort that's ever said, "I'd kill for my kids"? Well, your kids will be picking up the bill for the tax swervers' Brexit and the disastrous Tory reign of incompetence and greed. It won't just them either. It's likely to be your kids' kids, and probably their kids too?

It's also recently dawned on the Tories that graduates don't vote for them, and they're a bit pissed off about it.

People that understand data are the Tories' enemies  :crylaugh:

Many of the people that were robbed don’t want to admit they were robbed for the shame of being so sloppy with their own security. So they just go quiet, or worse still, pretend that being robbed was the plan because now they can buy new better stuff (which they don’t actually buy, because they’ve got no money).

Trade agreements, outside the EU we’re free to strike new ones with non-EU countries!!

But we already had unbelievable ones…

New trade agreements people.

NEW!!!

Ah shit.

My outgoings have remained quite level for about 10 years. Mortgage, bills, fuel etc all quite similar.

Back a decade or so ago my wife didn’t work following the birth of the kids.

Then later she got a part time job in a shop. Then a job for the council (part-time), then 4 days, and now she works 5 days a week.

In that time my salary has also risen a lot.

Despite these things I really feel poorer than I did a decade ago. It’s very hard to explain.

Some of the great leaders, and quite a few bad ones, in history had an inate understanding of how to wield mass psychology.

A fun example of someone else that understood this is Anton Lavey.

Two much more sinister examples are Robert Mercer and Dominic Cummings.

It's bonus tariffs for imports from where we got our food, plus the fossil fuel gang mugging everyone.

Ukraine war, chortle chortle, prices up.

Decades of market protection really paying off, transporting anything anywhere has got more expensive.

£100,000,000 footballer, no problem!

All systems go for the Neom arcology too.

No conspiracy. All in plain sight.

US president Joe Biden ditches trade deal talks with Britain over fears of job losses

Joe Biden has dashed hopes of a post-Brexit transatlantic trade deal with the UK as he looks to bolster US industry as part of his bid for re-election.

The talks that were set to start in October were abandoned over opposition from members of Mr Biden’s Democratic Party in the US Senate, according to Politico. There was also a failure to agree on how big such a deal should be.

But ministers have not given up, according to Whitehall sources speaking to The Daily Telegraph, who say the agreement could be revived under a second Donald Trump administration following the US election in November.

New Brexit fingerprint checks for UK travellers in Europe set to start in 2024

British passport holders to face further delays at EU borders with fingerprint and facial scans planned from October next year...

... The non-profit group Statewatch, which monitors civil liberties in the EU, predicts that technology firms could make millions of euros from operating the ESS, while travellers could face hefty delays.

“The Austrian government has estimated that waiting times, often already lengthy, will double when the system comes into use,” the group’s director Chris Jones told i.

He added: “Holidaymakers, workers, students and people visiting their families are unlikely to experience the convenience and efficiency promised by proponents of the system.

“Instead, it seems the main beneficiaries will be police and border agencies hungry for more sensitive personal data, and the IT companies that stand to make hundreds of millions of euros from the contracts for setting up and operating the system.”
