I think the usual knockout rules aren't quite rewarding enough and are a bit vague. Normally, it would be you predict the score for 90 minutes + extra time, so if you were to predict a 2-1 win, you'd get that whether it was within the 90 or in extra time. If you predict a draw, you'd get a bonus point for predicting the penalty winners but having rethink, how do you all feel about this instead... Let's say Brazil 1-1 Chile after 90 minutes. 2-2 AET. Brazil wins on penalties. Prediction A: Brazil 2-1 Chile 0 points Prediction B: Brazil 1-1 Chile (2-1 AET) 3 points for the 90 minute prediction. 0 points for AET Prediction C: Brazil 1-1 Chile (3-3 AET) 3 points for the 90 minute prediction. 1 point for AET Prediction D: Brazil 1-1 Chile (2-2 AET) 3 points for the 90 minute prediction. 2 points for AET Prediction E: Brazil 2-2 Chile (2-2 AET) 1 point for the 90 minute prediction. 2 points for AET Prediction F: Brazil 2-2 Chile (3-3 AET) 1 point for the 90 minute prediction. 1 points for AET If you are predicting the match goes to penalties, just indicate which team you think will win for an additional bonus point. No score needed for those. Something like "Brazil 1-1 Chile (2-2 AET) Brazil p" will do. Getting that prediction exactly right would be a 6 pointer. It does get a bit complicated at this stage but that's the joy of the knockouts, we need to cover everything. Does anyone have any suggestions? Just a score that counts before pens (ie after 90 or 120 mins, whichever settles it) and if you've got a draw, then the winner on pens for maybe a bonus point. I think if you allocate 6 then it means there's too many points available for one match.. Depends what others think.
