Not for me.
Solid but absolute liability due to his temperament. Nothing against having a s*ithouse in the team but this guy is another level.
Four red cards last season in all comps. Three red cards in under 2000 La Liga minutes last season and it's not as if these were mistimed challenges like Konsa that one year, was stupidity/petulance/over-aggression.
Also limited on the ball. Personally usually positive about signings, but don't really see the upside here.
Don't know why anyone cares about the result really. Mings injury ruined it and we were never going to win anyway. Trust Emery to sort it out. Toughest opening fixture there is minus City. Atmosphere and pressing just unplayable, especially after losing your organiser and basically captain. Some pathetic comments in this thread.
Well yes but that's pure speculation. The pain wasn't just physical. He's done incredibly well to come back from two ACLs before and gone onto play for England and he's probably absolutely devastated about not being able to be part of Europe and Euros.

Thoroughly enjoyed this article. Think a few of our lot could learn a thing or two about how the players see us when they get abused:
"Yeah, you had a few idiots on the Internet chatting shit. Who cares? The real supporters have your back."
So many sad parts of the article that really show how footballers are just not the robots people want them to be.
I suspect sometimes Cash and Digne/Moreno will compete for one spot in the team. If Cash plays, I think we end up playing the three with Torres/Mings covering as a defensive-minded, narrow left-back and Konsa covering Cash. If Moreno plays, I think we drop Cash and play Konsa as a defensive right-back to cover a marauding Moreno.
Just not sure it's quite a back five or three, think it'll be like a back 3.5 with the other "wing-back" more of an attacking player.
Carlos at fault against Walsall as well. Feels like he's fourth choice and not entirely sure where the minutes will be coming from if I'm honest. Bit concerning.
Has always been incredibly fit (highest running stats in team). Just a solid, high-risk/high-reward player who will have bad games and good games due to the way he plays.
Saw The Guardian suggest he was "previously skeptical" about joining Villa.
I mean, I get it, but with Torres also not looking too enthused, why do we think that is? Weather, club stature, location? Leverkusen is hardly anywhere to right home about I must say.
Said it before and I know it's a friendly but he is one of the most selfish players in the league, especially for someone so good at link-up (and not so great at dribbling!)
What now?
Surely has to lose his place but I don't really want him to. Not a right-back. I get we need to improve but Mings, Konsa, probably Carlos and Torres are all strong Europa-level defenders. All would improve teams like Spurs.
Does one leave?
