  1. I don't think Hart is realistically worth it either... the money on the transfer fee and wages would be better off spent sorting out the creativity in the team (midfield and wingers), this is the area in which we fell short last season. Johnstone behind a solid back line of Bree/De Laet, Terry, Chester, Taylor is absolutely fine at this level. Also if we can buy Johnstone we potentially have a keeper for years to come with a decent season behind him.
  2. Too be honest I would much rather see Samba coming on from the bench over both Elphick & Richards. I also wouldn't imagine his wage demands are anything like they were when he was playing Premiership football. We just have to trust Bruce's decision on this one, he know's a decent CB when he see's one from his time playing as one. He's also done a very good job with the defence since joining the club.
  3. Not quite how it works, if you release a player you have to pay off their contract... therefore there is no saving on wages.
  4. Maybe @Grasshopper is actually Ross McCormack...
  5. The difference is Lerner would have given Terry a four year contract at 60,000 per week and we would have been stuck with him... Xia has gone with a one year deal
  6. Absolutely massive statement at the beginning of the transfer window, having John Terry on board will make a lot of players keener to join us than they already would have been. Credit to Bruce, Xia and the board for this. Hopefully this mark's the beginning of the the comeback for us!
  7. Any new manager has to start from scratch, we just have to hope Bruce can make it work So far the in's and out's are looking to be upgrades on the in's... let's just hope this trend makes it through and continues.
  8. Just in the process of buying my first house, I did all my research online and then visited a bank to arrange the mortgage. Although a mortgage advisor can do this all on your behalf and possibly get a better deal. I started looking at new builds as well with the HTBI, but when you factor in the extra costs involved and the fact that you won't be able to make your house anymore profitable yourself, buying new doesn't sound so great. The house I am now buying needs a lot of work (decorative) to modernise it but will then be worth a fair bit more. Also got a great price on it due to people not being able to see past it's current dated look. But each to their own Good luck!
  9. I don't like the new home kit Bruce Out
  10. Lions ruin the home shirt for me, and the sponsor looks like a rushed 5 minute job. Hoping it looks better in person...
  11. McCormack, Agbonlahor, Richards, Steer, Green, Lyden, De Laet, Samba... that's all I can tell you from Social Media
  12. Alex Bruce to be announced imminently
  13. Transfer season starts in July usually, I would expect the signings and sales will begin next week if not Saturday (JT ) No need to panic just yet!
  14. Word from Twitter... Medical is now booked!
  15. Sometimes I wonder if Dr Tony will one day become fluent in English and look back at his Twitter account with the same disappointment I feel when I look at my 2007 Bebo account
  16. Middlesbrough have gone about this all wrong, they usually let us buy the player... make him crap... then buy him off us...
  17. One of the reason's we are in the situation we are currently is due to the merry go round of managers at our club and the inconsistent transfer & wage budgets assigned each season. Managers have been coming in, revamping the team with 'their' players each season with whatever funds have been at their disposal. Each time we change manager players are moved out and a bulk of players are brought in. Under Sherwood he brought in a large bulk of players (mostly poor) RDM then shifted out the majority of those players and then brought in another large bulk (again mostly poor, but with a few gems) Bruce has then been left with a team of players from two regimes and is now into his second transfer window (the most a manager has had for a while) to sort out this team and build a side around a formation and style of football. Last season he was very much working with what he had and the performances showed that. Give the bloke a chance! If we get rid of him this summer as so many of you seem to want we will be back to square one, a manager coming in shifting players that don't fit into his plans and buying in players that do. No manager can successfully do this in one transfer window when a club is in the state ours currently is. We are in the best position we have been in recent years (not league wise but club wise), we have an owner that cares about the club and is willing to invest a lot of money to bring us back to where we should be, we have an experienced manager who is willing to be in it for the long haul, and most importantly we have the fans back on side alongside a board that seem to know what they are doing again. Stop complaining and get behind the club.
  18. My guess is the GK is also being sorted, its June chill...
  19. I would rather see us signing some wingers over a striker, this is the area that we are poorest in. Adomah and Green are both decent options but Adomah goes missing too often and Green is still a prospect with a poor injury record. Even bringing one decent winger who can play both left and right as a back up for Adomah & Green would make the world of difference. For me once the GK & CB positions are secured we need to be looking for 1 more CM (possibly Ledley as a backup for Jedinak) and then bringing in 1-2 quality wingers to rival Adomah & Green
  20. I've actually heard/read a fair bit about Terry and one thing that is mentioned a lot is how good he is with the youth players at Chelsea and in keeping in contact with the players out on loan. I think it's a fair assumption that with him at Villa we would have a better chance of loaning some of Chelsea's decent youth prospects.
  21. Ledley is average prem quality. We can't sign high prem quality at the moment as we are sat in the Championship. We need to be realistic with our signings and not keep thinking of ourselves as above everyone in this league, as we found out last season we aren't...
  22. I think they will release a new badge once promotion is sorted and then update VP, Bodymoor and the merchandise as one. I believe Tony Xia mentioned a new badge would be on the agenda in the next few seasons. Lets just hope that this time Xia and his board remain in place or else we will have 3 badges floating around...
  23. July the 1st on Saturday Following Terry on Instagram and he flew out on another holiday yesterday (hard life eh), so I wouldn't expect much this week. Would expect an announcement next Monday on all fronts.
