The substitutions were baffling... Wilshire was poor but then to replace him with a winger? No harm in putting Barclay in there instead, he's that highly rated isn't he?? (not by me I must add). The annoying thing is that all the media reports just comment on the injured bloke and barely touch the Petrov story. BBC have a massive article within their sport section and yet go on to talk how they are touring and recording a new album. Then at the end mention Petrov.

The new media wank fest... Plays for Everton, think he played a few games under Moyes, but Martinez has started him every game I believe.. Only 19. Think will develop into a good player but too early to be in main side at present in my eyes.

Existing players fair enoough. Lot of the players brought in have a lot to prove IMO I thought our recent sponsorship was one of the smallest in recent years - granted we aren't the appeal we were a few years back - but in terms of revenue I wouldn't say the commercial side is developing. How they perform on the pitch is nothing to do with PF, his job was to get them in on good deals for the club, the publicised prices would seem he has done that well. As for the sponsorship I thought it was an increase from previous yrs, but couldn't swear by it.

Yep very good summer by PF and his team.. Signed existing players onto long term contracts, brought in 7 new players plus numerous more youth signings and have developed the commercial aspects well.

Shearer has been much better this season than previously and I'd rather watch him than Gobby Savage. Owen is just utterly devoid of everything, he's maybe even worse than Lawro and Hansen. Agreed shearer has been slightly better but he is starting from a very low position. I would actually like more of Pat Nevin, he is quite insightful

Greg Dyke's role is nigh on impossible. Too many barriers in his way, too much money in ore for clubs to be concerned about England. The clubs demand instant success. Youth development is also at a strange place, the new structure is meant to mean that the clubs with good facilities get a better chance of the better players, but it also means that the top clubs can poach all the players which could hinder progress to first team. (See dan Crowley transfer as an example)
