  1. What position did he ply last night? (were we the usual 433?)
  2. The league this yr is very tightly knit, honestly think any position between 8th and 19th (last seasons top 7 and I see palace getting cut off) is possible for the rest. Ergo it is possible that we could be involved in a relegation battle. It may be too early for panic to kick in, but it doesn't mean people can't discuss the possibility of it happening. Conversely, it could be equally possible that we are involved for a push for a European place and again people could discuss that.
  3. I don't think it was particularly good either. Gritty, yes but lacked many genuine quality passages of play. Having said that, we do seem to be grinding out results in away games these days, so you can't complain too much. The test for Lambert is too improve the team's showing at home. The result against Norwich was never going to really prove anything as we were all content with our away form anyway. I've read and agreed with a lot of your posts recently, this is another.
  4. Canary killer How long will you be running the survey? Will the results (no personal dets) be made available, would be interesting to see how the votes would go.
  5. Think he will be a lot better than Benteke in a few yrs time
  6. How good is Lukaku going to be? Everytime I see him he gets better and better. Honestly think in a couple of yrs time he will be the best out and out striker in world football. To this day I can't understand what Mourinho is thinking of letting him go this yr.
  7. Didn't he do exactly that to put Kozak through yesterday? Yes, on the odd occasion he does but there were 2/3 others times when around the box and didn't make the pass
  8. Thank for the link, never heard of them before. Really interesting.
  9. I think it's a good idea, I would actually like Walsall, local club, currently a good philosophy on playing football, bring through young players, already have a strong relationship with Villa.
  10. For me his strengths lie in breaking up the play high up the pitch, when the whole team is playing that way he is a good player to have. However , if he goes to press high and isn't supported by team mates, then it is easier to pass around him making him look ineffective (ala Newcastle). Against Norwich the organisation was a lot better and we defended more as a unit. Kea's strengths therefore came to the fore.
  11. I agree that he does keep getting better, still think he lacks that final pass in the last third of the pitch, to really create chances. Still easily our current best midfielder
  12. Took his goal well at the second time of asking (first should've been tucked away), good movement off the ball. Will get sent of this yr though, went to swing an elbow at one stage when covering the back towards corner flag, will need to cut that out.
  13. Guzan is great for us, but I honestly wouldn't put him in the very top bracket yet. For me those better are (in no specific order): De Gea Hart Lloris Cech Then Guzan is probably on a similar par to: Begovic Mignolet Vorm Krul
  14. McLeish watching the game today.. Going to take over from PDC?
  15. Strong performance today, very unlucky with the penalty. Looked like the player that stared against west ham under hou. Glad to see he has worked hard over the summer
  16. Get the **** in.. Hate us sitting back so much, but god did we need that result. What a save from Brad. Outfield I'd say Clark, Bacuna and Delph were the better ones
  17. Out of interest, what players do you like? Benteke is class, and I've always been a fan of Agbonlahor. Other than that there's not much else in the squad if I'm honest. Too many average/below average players at Villa these days. That's why we find ourselves perennial relegation battlers. Ok just so you know - WHEN he plays for England you have lost your right to like him. You've made your bed. No glory hunters here, you don't want or know how to give a player time so stay away from worshiping Matty when he hits the top heights. Your Matty Lowton lovein card has been cancelled. I'd be very surprised if he plays for england
  18. Yep put him up against rvw who is strong in the air
  19. This one is pretty hard to call, based on our last couple of games you'd have to start as Norwich as favourites, but then we are stronger away. I'd make a few changes to the Newcastle team (not that I think PL will go this way). Guzan Lowton - Vlaar - Baker - Luna Sylla Bacuna - Delph Tonev - The Beast - Gabby Even though Clark has looked better this season, Baker is stronger in the air and RVW is good in the air so will need Baker's strength in that department. Westwood is the passer of the team, but away from home we are good on the counter and therefore do not require to retain possession as much (even though if we could dictacte a game i would prefer to keep possession more). Sylla, although not played as the DM last yr, could offer more protection to the defence and still be able to keep the ball with simple passes. Bacuna and Delph could then be box to box (with Bacuna starting slightly more advanced). Whilst Bacuna struggled first half against Liverpool (as did most of the team), I actually thought he grew into more before switching to rb, he was starting to beat a man and looking for the run of others, think this would be an ideal game to bring him back into the fold. Tonev for AW is a no brainer for me as don't think AW has looked his sharpest this yr, and a little spell out of the starting line up may get him going again.
  20. Shag but then murder Anna Friel
  21. Went to Tinseltown in stab city last night BBQ chicken wings to start, double beef burger main and topped off with a Black Forest milkshakes. The milkshakes are incredible, so much variety. It's a heart attack in a glass but so worth it.
  22. Vote cast, second page had to press next about 4 times to go through. Good luck with it
  23. I really don't get the obsession with fans wanting players to change position. It's mentioned loads with Bennett and Clark. Players should play in there normal positions and if not good enough, then someone else should come in (not saying Lowton isn't good enough). Yes people can mention Bale, but it's fair to say none of our players are anything like Bale. As for playing wing back I thought when we went to 3/5 at the back last yr and Lowton was at WB, we saw the worst of his performances. He was unsure when to go forward or when to sit back and often did neither. When back at RB he looked far more comfortable and understanding of the position. Sorry not picking on your postpersonally just that you mention it.

    The 99 Club

That is pretty appalling. The midfield in attack and defence needs to improve
