  1. He may plug a gap in the squad after all the injuries we have suffered.
  2. He is someone who crossed my mind earlier in the window and he would be an upgrade on Cash for sure, but I read recently that Man Utd and Arsenal were battling for his signature. So probably an unlikely signing for us.

    Unai Emery

100% Agree, even Fergie and Wenger were on the end of some thrashings some times, and they are the two most successful managers during the PL era. Unai will bounce back, and so will the team.
  4. Ok thank you, I don’t feel like I am missing out on anything there then. It all seems like a massive waste of time and energy.
  5. I have never signed up for Twitter but I get the impression it is the modern equivalent of a group of gossiping grannies all tittle tattling about what they have hear Marjorie down the road has been up to on her holidays.
  6. Thankfully @alreadyexists has posted a shorter and better highlights Youtube video on page 59 of this thread. It has made me feel a little better about the transfer, and with that video only being 4 minutes long my concentration span wasn't tested too much.
  7. You Tube Video - This is why Aston Villa want Nicolo Zaniolo Was it this one? If so I thought the same as you, he dribbles the ball alot but nothing seems to come of it other than he wins fouls in the middle of the pitch, or gives the ball away, has a pop from distance that hits defender or flies over. I did get bored after 4 mins of the same thing in the video though, so maybe the second half of the video is better? The injury concerns are another major worry, my gut feeling is this won't be a ood signing. I hope that I am wrong though, and to be honest it wouldn't be the first time if I am wrong, I thought that Jordan Ayew would be good once he settled in the PL.

    Omar Khedr

Khedr on OS It says he is a winger on the OS, although not sure if he has a preferred side. Aston Villa is pleased to announce the signing of exciting Egyptian talent, Omar Khedr, from Zed FC. The 17-year-old winger has put pen to paper on a pre-contract agreement with the club and will join officially on 1st July 2024 when he turns 18, signing a long-term deal. Khedr’s arrival marks the first signing since Aston Villa and Zed FC entered a collaboration agreement earlier this year.
  9. My gut feeling is Chuk will come good this season. Like you say he is only 19, I think Poch will give him plenty of minutes and he will improve as the season goes on. JJ had plenty of average games for us when he was 19, it is par for the course at that age. I think we are trying too hard as fans to convince ourselves we did alright from the deal, and yes we did ok to get £20m, but that’s not to say Chuk doesn’t go on to do well in his career though given time.
  10. I don’t want to get too down on one result, but this is just typical Villa. Get your hopes raised of good things to come, before totally imploding and crushing those hopes. I am hoping it’s a one off shocker, but the loss of players to long term injury is going to hurt us bad. I thought we could cope with Buendia injury, Mings will be a massive loss for us, he is our lynchpin at the back.
  11. I have no idea what order each of them come on the list. I can’t say I know enough about any of Felix, Torres or Zaniolo to say for certain which is the better option so I also have reservations on all three. Torres has the experience of playing in the PL previously, but hasn’t really kicked on to live up to the hype. Reading about Zaniolo having had some bad injuries is also a big concern. Finally, I am not sure Felix is jumping for joy about coming here, which could be a recipe for disaster. Hopefully whoever we get in can prove us wrong.
  12. Yeah he has definitely been mentioned earlier in this window. He is on the list, probably the same list as Ferran Torres and Felix neither of whom have gone anywhere yet. I imagine we are working through this list and have sounded various players out, and maybe trying to nudge some players along a little with their decision making.
  13. Agreed, I think it is the only area of the squad we are really light in both depth and quality. I would like to see one more bought in. Archer could be the man, but pinning your hopes on him in the event of a Watkins injury would be foolish, especially if we are serious about challenging the top teams for a cup/Champions League spot. Duran is still a bit too raw from the few minutes of game time I have seen him play and is currently behind Archer in my opinion.
  14. FFS, terrible news for us. As well as his pressing ability, he is a good finisher and was starting to hit the net with more regularity during pre-season. Sad news, hopefully he can make it back for the tail end of the season.
  15. That’s a shame for the lad, unfortunately it was the perfect height for the goalkeeper. It needed to be lifted about another foot higher into the top half of the goal and it would be almost unstoppable. Hopefully Barry bounces back from that quickly.
  16. That is very odd, have they been through a translator? Or is it their Pro Evo names? Where has that come from, they aren't like that on the OS?
  17. I think you can make the contract have many different clauses based on any given scenario playing out. I think we would be mad not to have a large sell on clause included as well.
  18. This was my thinking as well, surely the seats can be re-jigged to sort the lettering. Let’s see what it looks like for the first match before reaching for the pitchforks.
  19. I think the thing that stands us in better stead now more so than any other time under MON for a Euro campaign, is that we have become a more possesion based team over the last twelve months. We can control the pace of more matches than we ever did under previous managers, which results in having less chasing about after the ball to do, which will partly help towards managing the extra work load. Unai Emery has shown he is not afraid to rotate and use the younger players. I believe we have the best manager for us at the helm, and hopefully he in turn can get the best out of each of those players he has available during this campaign. We will have to get used to this workload as a club and a fanbase if we want to be succesful in the future. This is all part of the learning curve for the club.
  20. What stands us in good stead here with this deal is that Aaron has connections to our club with his brothers being here, and him being a local lad coming through the academy and a fan. I think he would jump at the chance to come back in 12-24 months. I get the comparison as Dougie had a similar deal, but he never hit the heights at the time to make Man City trigger their buy back option. For Man City it doesn’t matter as much as they have loads of top quality talent in their squad already that they wouldn’t miss him. That is not to say they won’t come sniffing around again next summer if Dougie has another storming season.
  21. It sounds like he has made a good start on loan. He just needs to maintain this level and be consistent throughout the season, then we may see KKH integrated into our first team squad next season.
  22. Yes, another clean sheet. She looks to be a great pick up for us. Who is this Hampton you mention?
  23. 4-0 down, ouch. I am not sure what is going on there! Rice was an important player for them, but they are struggling big time without him. They have not bought anyone yet, which is a surprise with the £100m+ they have from selling Rice.
  24. I am not keen on the deal, but the devil is in the detail. Hopefully the detail works in our favour further down the line. For now Aaron Ramsey doesn’t get many opportunities in our first team, but with a good spell at Burnley in 12-24 months we hopefully have the option to pick up Aaron as a fully developed and exciting option for relatively peanuts. I don’t know the detail, so will have to trust Unai and his team know what they are doing. He has done well in the past with young players at Arsenal and Villarreal, so I will console myself with that for the time being.

    Paul McGrath

Just seen a post on his Instagram that it was 34 years ago today that this legend signed for our club! A great picture of him sat with Graham Taylor. What a player he was for us. A classy defender, always seemed to be in the right spot to make the game look easy.
