Last present that is here wrapped, my grandsons Christmas pyjamas. 2 presents still in transit. Later it's one traditional pint with a mate and the exchange of gifts, one of the things in transit is for him so cutting it fine. Tonight it's takeaway.

My daughter isn't a huge drinker, maybe a glass of disarano once a month. She had a cocktail night with one of her friends last night and has been updating me via WhatsApp her increasing drunken stupour. Her message this morning. "I just threw up". I am kind of proud of her but know now she won't have another drink as a result for about a year.

December is a hard month for me, what with people insisting Die Hard being a Christmas film and the New Year Honours list.

Not Jack Reacher but I have read all of the James Patterson Alex Cross series. **** they are badly ghost written but I love that stuff.
