  1. Think you are doing him a disservice - he is defo as silly as these two. The guy is starting to write himself into Villa folklore. I think he will see out his career with us - you can see just how much playing for us, means to him. We are lucky to have him
  2. Yes I agree - I truthfully don’t see him as a regular starter. I guess he is like many wingers before him, he is consistently inconsistent. I don’t think I will ever be one of his staunchest fans, but if he can replicate todays impact on a regular basis - he might just become our very own David Fairclough
  3. Let them keep talking about Ange - let’s keep our genius tactician under everyone’s radar and well ensconced in B6
  4. I don’t know if maybe he was somewhat disoriented momentarily It seemed like, he thought he had to put the ball further to the right of the goal, than he actually needed too? But yes you make a great point about his goal.
  5. Definitely better coming off the bench for me. Great cross into the box, looked up for the fight and very lively today.
  6. Are we actually leaving Castore - or is it still at the rumour stage?
  7. Absolutely this - I agree with everything you say.
  8. I think you are right - He can clearly play, there is little doubt about this, but he does appear to have long periods in games, where his involvement is minimal - I’m sure this will come though. And without question he adds strengths to our squad.
  9. Big Ron remains my favourite manager - the football we played under him was simply sublime imo. This said - our present incumbent is doing his bloody best to get me to change my mind
  10. This is my problem with Bailey for a winger he seems reluctant to take on his marker on far too many occasions. I accept I am in a dwindling minority but this is one of the reasons I prefer Bertie. Bailey is performing much better at the moment, but I do believe if he took the bull by the horns so to speak, he would be even better. Imo
  11. I thought he was dreadful TRO - his main objective was not to lose. Totally boring imo. Brian was much better imo
  12. See Leicester away for details - that’s why Bertie is on the bench. He can make magic happen albeit in cameo outings it appears these days
  13. Just a bad day at the office for me - given where we are in terms of our progress, days like these are pretty much par for the course imo. We are not going to turn up and win - we are still work in progress. No questions, no analysis from me. Onwards and upwards
  14. With due respect - is this really so far wide of being plausible ? I can’t remember the timeline of events so I could be totally wide of the mark - it just kinda seems possible ?
  15. I agree - I think this kid does have the attributes to be a great player. I do think however, he will probably have to go elsewhere, before he realises his potential. I think he’s likely to be a slow burn to the top. But feel sure he will get there.
  16. Sadly it seems as though Bertie’s time here is drawing to a close, if recent reports are to be believed. Bertie will always remain a favourite of mine, and whilst acknowledging I am in a minority - for me, he is a better footballer than Bailey. I hope he can stay around at least until this season ends just so we can enjoy this mercurial magician a little longer. I still believe he can offer us something particularly in Europe.
  17. I totally agree - it looked for a fleeting moment that his luck was about to change and then next minute, he was gone. Given an extended run of games, I think he might have nailed a shirt, sadly this ship has sailed.
  18. I think you are being a tad harsh if I may say so. we all know that Doug was Doug and his ego came before him. But despite this I do think that Villa mattered to him, more than his other excursions into football imo. I wouldn’t say he doesn’t deserve a stand named after him, we have had worse owners - but I certainly agree that there are many more deserving villans to have a stand named after them. As I’ve previously said Paul McGrath would be my preference
  19. I am not so sure about the too nice bit, I felt that Brian did possess a ruthless streak when it was needed. I do agree that he loves the club and is a legend without question. Personally I would probably prefer a stand to be named after Paul McGrath - but acknowledge their is just a rizla paper between preferences. I loved having him as our manager, I think his first game was a Sunday v Sheff wed ? I recall a banner in the Holte proclaiming “ Brian’s home “ said it all really.
  20. I do think Jack still loves the club - would you stop supporting Villa, if you got offered a pro contract ? How was he really supposed to turn down city? I’d bring Jack home tomorrow, if it was possible. Each to their own as the saying goes is applicable here I feel
  21. I suppose you could ask this question about any of our players? Macca, Sid, Peter Withe, Gary Shaw, the list goes on. Ugo played with distinction for a number of years - I guess others have to make this distinction? Some try to tell me Agbonlahor is a Villa legend, this overrated talentless footballer could not hold a candle to Ugo imo. I suppose it boils down to opinion at the end of the day. Regardless - Ugo was a fantastic footballer for us. I’m sure everyone agrees this much.
  22. Yes I would have thought Ugo is classed as a Villa legend
  23. I have this horrible feeling about tomorrow You know it’s football all over that they come and snaffle the points
  24. You are right - I think Ugo’s debut was against Norwich and it wasn’t good - So glad the club, stuck with him. Ugo became a Villa legend. Someone mentioned Laursen as well - don’t recall his debut tbh, but he is the only player I know that can hold a candle to Paul McGrath
  25. I care - I think he is a good player, hopefully it’s all put to bed and he can fully focus on Aston Villa.
