  1. @villa4europe @blandy Latest published wages to revenue ratios courtesy to Swiss ramble below. We are not looking good and would be one of the first teams punished if salary cap was to be introduced. Bear in mind that revenue values are affected by covid, so the ratios are likely to drop now for everyone once stadiums are fully open again.
  2. They're doing great business selling their academy cast offs. One of the reasons why they don't have to cheat FFP anymore to be able to sign grealish AND kane.
  3. I reserve my judgement until we see full details of what UEFA are to propose. But agree, salary cap purely based of revenue will only lead to entrenching the current elite even further. Blanket salary cap is an interesting one. Difficult to get it right though, set it too high and it won't matter much. Set it low and you will see players filing lawsuits left right and centre that UEFA is denying them income.
  4. Yes, we will be getting some money for renting the venue. It's all classed as commercial revenue and counts towards any FFP calculations.
  5. 1. Shorter term Keep Carney happy 2. Longer term make small profit on him
  6. YouTube player highlights should be banned. I just watched Alexander Tonevs clip and he still looks amazing after all these years.
  7. I see him being loaned out. He wasn't even a starter for Northampton in Ligue 2 last season, made 20 appearneaced off the bench and only 4 starts. For 19 year old it's not that impressive...I wonder if we bought him to keep Carney happy?
  8. Smaller team would never be given that much loans, their revenue would not be able to support it. There's nothing in the rules prohibiting you from taking on debt. As long as you not defaulting on repayments.
  9. Debt is dirt cheap nowadays...2-3% So probably around £30 million. Not significant in comparison to their £600m revenue
  10. Why? They haven't broken any rules. Their wagebill is being reduced accordingly to la liga salary cap rules. They haven't defaulted on any of the loans either, and unlikely they will.
  11. I'm not claiming that these 7 are good enough. Just simple fact that they ARE in the squad and you cannot just stockpile players unsettling the squad. Hourihane is already surplus to requirements and will need to be moved on even if nobody else comes in. To bring in another body in, we need to ship out at least one more midfielder IMO.
  12. 1. Do we need high quality DM option? In my opinion yes 2. Is 21 year old with one year of experience in Ligue 1 gonna transform our midfield? I am not convinced. 3. Are we in position to bring somebody in? We already have glut of midfielders in the squad. Dougie, Nakamba, mcginn, Sanson, JJ, chuck,Hourihane that's 7 ( plus Buendia can also play in midfield 3). All those players competing for 2-3 positions (depending on formation). This is too many and not healthy if you want to keep harmony in the squad. We would need to ship 2-3 midfielders out before bringing somebody in.
  13. Excellent summary by Swissramble, showing facts and numbers behind PSG and their FFP situation in regards to Messi. https://threader.app/thread/1427146077321433091
  14. No he is not. I wonder what happens if they are unable to register him this season ...is his contract still valid and they need to pay his full wage?
  15. I think it's more to do with Bielsa than Leeds itself. Anyway, it doesn't bother me in rhe slightest. I don't get why so many villa fans get wound up about it. I spoke to a group of Spurs fans and they just don't care about it, let them be in the limelight while Bielsa is there.
  16. Heard their director of football saying that last summer they did all the business they needed for this year too. They did spend 80-100mil last summer to be fair. Bielsa is getting a lot from this group of players, I wouldn't be massively surprised if they finish ahead of us again this season.
  17. It's past 10pm but I can't see the game being available yet...do you?
  18. You’re missing the point here. In MLB every team has the same salary cap. What uefa are proposing here is a cap that depends on each team’s individual revenue. This is the whole point of the argument against it. it means that it won’t be the top teams paying the luxury tax. It will be the smaller teams who try to catch up to the elite (like villa ) that will be forced to pay the luxury tax if they want to compete.
  19. I don’t have the sub for times (if someone has please paste the article here if allowed), but it doesn’t look like the NBA model. In NBA every team has the same salary cap, this one is related to the revenue. It means that teams like city and united would have the cap 3 or 4 times bigger than a team like villa
  20. Bailey can certainly play LW. He did play there for Bayer a lot, although not last season . So it could have been Bailey-esr-buendia behind Watkins.
  21. Not necessarily. He played alongside odegaard last season.
  22. This is interesting. Although this is UEFA FFP, it would only applie to clubs involved in European competitions. It remains to be seen if Premier League follows suit or it sticks with its current regulations. Need to see more details of this proposal before we can make full judgement.
  23. Injured for half a season and drugged up on sleeping pills for the rest of it? but seriously, who’s gonna play LW in this case? Bailey?
  24. EFL have already closed that loophole. As of last month clubs are not allowed to do that anymore. It might still be possible in Premier League though, not sure on that. But so far only championship teams were forced to do that.
