  1. Basically he is extremely motivated to get back in the game, so he can win a spot in the danish team going to the World Cup. With the interview today (nicely subtitled in English, and released early in the transfer window) and his agent throwing comments about how much he loved his time in England, he is definitely letting his intentions show. To my knowledge Daley Blind plays with a similar condition and pacemaker and has returned to top level, so I’m also not convinced with the argument that CE could not do the same. He has used the last 7 months on medical tests while slowly turning up the intensity - he passed all tests and is fully fit according to the doctors. I don’t see neither commitment nor health as a concern, but as others mentioned he might not be the medicine we need at this point.
  2. With Mings out I assume the captaincy goes to SJM, as he seems to be back on his feet. Who do you think would be next in line in case both are out?
  3. Not a bad starting XI at all!!
  4. I agree that Watkins playing as a striker is important for the team. Watkins pushed down in midfield to accomodate Ings is a horror show... as many already stated on here, it should be Watkins or Ings, the problem is when we try to shoehorn both in there. I'm not really too concerned whether the striker we decide to field is Watkins or Ings... Having Ings as backup for Watkins - or the other way around if the coaching team finds it the best option - is a good situation really, a big improvement on last season!
  5. Crazy shirt, fits well with the look on his face Hoping for a speedy recovery!!
  6. I agree he makes the right subs, but I would have liked to see them a bit earlier today. We were not playing very through second half, and actually allowed them to push us back and threaten a bit in some periods. I think earlier subs could have given us better energy to gain control of the match again.
  7. Voted Ramsey MOTM, he really impressed me today! Got that important first goal with a great run and finish. Thought he was quietly solid throughout the match... First half good but should have been pushing for one or two more goals. Second half a very strange, how we almost let them back in the match, and started to look nervous. Fortunately we managed to keep them away, and then finally Chuck pushed through and helped Watkins with a confidence boost.
  8. Happy to see a strong lineup. Could have been a much worse situation with this covid lottery!
  9. So many solid performances! Had to give my vote to McGinnister after that “what?? I didn’t hear the whistle” raid at the end… got them really riled up
  10. Exactly this, bit the same against Chity. Lost the ball too often, but set up Carney out of the blue…
  11. Really solid performance, wish Carney had buried that chance!!
  12. From what I could find he is called Dibu Martinez in Argentina. “Dibu” coming from dibujo meaning drawing or sketch in Spanish. The story goes it came from his youth coach Pepe Santoro because of the “cartoonish freckles” he had back then
  13. Just read a story in the danish news on the Eriksen situation. Getting a heart-starter defib inserted is under normal circumstances considered quite a small operation with only local anesthesia, where the patient is often able to leave the hospital the next day. Based on this, I thoroughly expect Eriksen to get on the pitch in the last group match agains Russia
  14. Amazing improvement this season, defending and going forward! Last season he folded under pressure - he often looked like a deer caught in headlights. He gained confidence to play in small rooms and improve his link up play, probably helped quite a lot by Jack. The fantastic part is that now he doesn't need Jack to perform like this, he reached a new baseline and has become a consistent high performer regardless of who is on that LW.
  15. I stumbled upon this analysis of Martinez. Long read, but some really good points on why he is world class. Great technique and speed. He rarely gives a rebound, and catches shots others would just deflect. On top of that his calmness and leadership stabilizes the back four, making others improve their game.
  16. And this is where teams like Real Madrid or Barca they get interested. Footballing ability and marketing value in one. Compare it to Christian Eriksen, he is (was?) an amazing player at Tottenham, but personality as interesting as watching wet paint dry... therefore never going to be interesting for teams like Real and Barca.
  17. Exactly the situation where he stepped up and earned an MOTM vote from my side. Leicester we’re about to get a real ugly counter opportunity and he completely defused that.
  18. I would love for a journalist to ask Klopp about this deal. He is often quite direct and honest, would be interesting to see if he really is aligned with the owners on this one?
  19. He’s being repurposed in Hoffenheim to left back. The danish pundits are discussing why, since he is such a good finisher but still lack in his defensive abilities. The national coach has decided to stick to Hoffenheims definition and put him at left back. I prefer to see him further up the field.
  20. Reminds me of a Danish insult, translates into something along the lines of “May your bum itch and your arms be too short to scratch”. That’s for you Ben Mee...
  21. Someone like Mathias Zanka at CB. Did a good job at Huddersfield, so he knows the league, and seems to be out of favor at Fenerbahce at the moment. He still makes the Denmark team and had a good take on Kane the other day.
