  1. I don’t care about being a dirty team. Will be a bit annoying though seeing other fans use it to criticize us though.
  2. I mean a goalkeeper getting 3 yellow cards by this time is already a lot. No other pl keeper has accrued more than 3 yellow cards this season so far in comparison. That said, from what I can find he’s actually on 2 yellows not 3.
  3. That still makes no sense. If he was that highly rated, surely another club would’ve gone in for him too and raised his price. You expect me to believe that their owners decided to just sell him to the first bidder at a massive cut price? That other clubs who apparently highly rated him too never considered putting in a higher bid for him? I know of this argument but it just doesn’t pass the smell test if you took 2 seconds to think about it.
  4. Because he never had that strong of a reputation, its just some of our fans hyping him up as this big coup. He was a decent to good ligue 1 player but that’s not exactly a real marker of quality. We wouldn’t have gotten him as cheaply as we did if he really rated that highly.
  5. Possibility? Yeah sure there could be a good ending. I just think its unlikely with the circumstances. If a player isn’t making any appearances at all and there’s no fitness issues, chances are he just isn’t favored. And one of them was a cup game where he even played Olsen so lets not act like Emery didn’t want to field anything less than a full strength sixe Also can we just stop taking the word of managers seriously? Its impossible to know what they’re saying is truly their opinions or them just giving generic answers in order to not rock the boat. Many times the words of managers often contradict their actions. Case in point, Unai was asked about what he thought about Sanson, he’s hardly gonna say he thinks hes **** shit is he?
  6. You could’ve said the exact same thing at any point since the start of his second season with us. Occam’s razor and all, if he isn’t being brought as a sub whatsoever and isn’t even making any appearances in cup games safe to say Emery just doesn’t rate him either and he’ll be gone soon enough.
  7. Players tend to play better when they have better players around them. Can’t rely on that though, we’re not exactly challenging for the title and if we were, it would be extremely hard for them to get into our starting 11. Our players need to be able to perform even when they’re not playing for a top team in the division.
  8. I’m surprised he even got another mls move. His record with Miami was 5 goals and 0 assists in 46 games.
  9. I think its pretty clear now he’s not going to be good enough to start for us if we’re going for Europe. Backup sure, but other clubs seem to be interested in him plus he is a former England international. Could just be smart financially to sell him now for a good offer as he’d likely be overvalued.
  10. Considering its Norwich, that’’s not a very high bar.
  11. Like apparently pretty bad. Their other 2 keepers are from the second tier in german football and the swedish league according to wikipedia. Again, just more evidence why we shouldn’t read “experienced international” and think he must be a good player. It could just mean everyone else is really shit.
  12. Its really just because lots of rival(and some of our own) fans think he’s absolute gash and many of our own fans become overly defensive of him in response. So each tyrone mings performance good or bad becomes fuel for both fans to rant about him wanting to go “I told you he was shit/good” to trying diminish his good performances/mistakes.
  13. You guys think we can loan Tom Heaton back?
  14. I think its impossible to say for certain but it looked to me like Olsen could have stuck a leg out to it. Either way, Mings would not have been able to know that so its not his fault.
  15. In his defence, I think its more about using this opportunity to see how good the players he has under his disposal are. He’s not a villa fan, he’s not going to be as knowledgeable of how good our players have been. Sure there’s training but I swear people massively overrate how relevant that is. There was that quote by wenger about how manuel almunia was apparently the best arsenal keeper on the training pitch but all of it went to shit on the actual match day. Doing it in training is a lot different to doing it in proper match conditions with tens of thousands of eyes on you. By far The best way to know how good a player is is to see how they actually perform when given a chance.
  16. So much for us getting a cup specialist manager lol
  17. We gave him 3 years? He’s about to exit his prime ages as a goalkeeper(28-32) and he’s only gonna get worse.
  18. I think serious questions need to be asked about what made us sign him in the first place. He’s been atrocious for several clubs before us. I thought maybe as a second keeper it would be fine but he really is no terrible. is this another case of us getting in a bigger-name for no other reason than he’s a bigger name? Did our scouting for him end at the fact that we saw he was an international keeper and was available?
  19. Never want to see him in goal for us again. He’s a decent shot stopper but truly awful at everything else. Has been that way since he first joined us.
  20. I’ve often been very sceptical of our youth players and the news of their successes. Its all too easy to believe that they’re doing well and have a massive ceiling because that’s what we want to believe. But I genuinely think he’s by far our biggest prospect we have right now and has the potential to become someone special. Edit: Now that I think about it, by far is probably stretching it. Philogene and Archer are probably about the same level, but they are a bit older. this is about my ranking right now of our youth talent in terms of how likely they are to pan out for us Iroegbunam, Philogene, Archer, Ramsey, Hayden, Azaz, Barry
  21. Always thought we rushed his development anyway. I think he should’ve been plying his trade in league 1 right now. Been a victim of his own hype really. Quite a lor of our fans think he’s already pl ready when in reality he’s still a couple years off that.
  22. The prize money for winning the cups is essentially nothing, that’s why. Europe isn’t that great too, unless its the CL. Especially if it could threaten the league performances with the increase in match load. The premier league is just massively more important for clubs like us. Like, from a fan perspective, of course it would be cool to see our club win a trophy and be in europe, but from a more material perspective, they really are not worth the effort
  23. Him being calm and composed on the ball is a complete myth. People seem to want to disregard that terrible pass in that man united game which is prime evidence for this for some reason but his passing accuracy for us is no better than Mcginn’s this season. if you look even further back to his ligue 1 days, he’s always had a poor passing accuracy rate. Because he’s not this ashley westwood type at all, he’s supposed to be an attacking mid, almost as a number 10. Not too different to what we have with Ramsey and Mcginn. This narrative that he’s this super composed midfielder arose because people started viewing him as the solution to our midfield woes(which was keeping the ball), and started shoehorning his attributes to match that narrative.
  24. He only attempted 6 passes. Majority of them crosses. But yeah apparently he didn’t a complete a single one of them.
