  1. Also does anyone know for a fact when his date of birth is? Because there's conflicting accounts on it online. https://allfamousbirthday.com/cameron-archer/ Look at this link. At the top it says his birthday is 21 July, but then scroll down a bit on the same page and it says his birthday is 9 Decemeber. All the other links I can find says his birthday is either one of these 2 dates. Regardless, imo 22 years of age is the start of when its make it or break it time for a striker. This is generally when we should start having a solid idea what level he should be at and shouldn't expect anymore massive jumps in ability. Depending on which birthday is right, he turns 22 by the end of this season or the end of the year. That 22-23 year old. stretch is going to be crucial for him and whatever it is, he needs to be playing regular football by then. Whether its with us or with another club. Edit: On another note, I was looking at how old Harry Kane was when he broke through because like to use him as an example of a late bloomer who had multiple failed loan spells. I noticed how young he was during these loan spells. He wasn't even 20 years old during his last one with Leicester so he actually isn't a great example of that. He was only 21 when he had his first proper breakthrough with Tottenham.
  2. Also, I think people are overrating Archer’s exploits in the championship a bit. He did well for Preston for that half season, but he was far from ripping the Championship in half. His goal return was a 1 in 3. Even if you doubled his goal talley to take account the fact that he was only there for half a season, he would have 14 goals. Not enough to make the top 10 championship scorers last season. Hell, not even enough to be preston’s top scorer last season. He’s not even close to the performances put on by people like Tammy Abraham and Adam Armstrong and many other players who take the championship by storm, but then flop(at least initially)in the pl so even these guys aren’t a proper comparison to him. he might be good enough for us one day, but he really hasn’t shown enough to justify that he is so far. What he has is potential that must be nurtured. And call me crazy but I think that potential is hest nurtured back starting every week in the championship than on the bench with us.
  3. I always thought and said it was utterly pointless to keep him around. He was just never getting ahead of Watkins and Ings.
  4. Put it this way. His goalscoring rate is 0.33 per 90 minutes in the pl. Maupay’s was 0.31 prior to his everton move, almost identical to watkins rate yet he only cost 15m. Even the english tax isn’t going to double his price.
  5. His shot on target percentage is really low now at 16.7 percent. He hasn’t had even a single shot on target since August. In that time, he’s managed 13 shots, all ended up off target. Only 3 players in the league have underperformed their xG per 90 worse than him and has had at least as many shots as he had(Welbeck, Jesus and Elyounoussi).
  6. The reaction from everton fans were polarizing to me.
  7. Why is Watkins starting over Ings? Its actually been quite an entertaining game of football. If you were a neutral.
  8. Macallister isn’t his competition. The likes of alvarez and Di Maria were.
  9. That might have to do with the fact that we don’t put in many crosses to begin with.
  10. Nunez is far from crap anyway. He’s non-penalty goal rate is 4th highest in the league, higher than the likes of Kane, Mitrovic, Toney. He’s just barely played this season. If he had played as much as watkins did for us this season, he’d be on 10 goals instead of the 5 he currently has. I swear some of these “poor goalscorers” are just a victim of them not playing far less than people realized. For example, Gabriel Jesus is talked about as someone who couldn’t be relied on to score goals but during his Man City days, he was posting some very high scoring rates. Its just Pep rotated his forward line a lot so he lost a lot of playing time compared to a club like us who pretty much plays Watkins every single minute he’s available.
  11. All the links I can find for David price him at about 40m pounds. I think that's a good price for him tbh.
  12. Anyone happen to know why Traore wasn't in the squad?
  13. Maybe its because diving to a side is the more "traditional" option and staying in the middle is the more "experimental" option. In the keeper's head, he just saw his team miss a shot so the he feels the pressure to save this shot to make it even. So he defaults to the traditional option. This sounds like a stretch I know, but there must be some sense to it. Although if it is true, I'm surprised its not more well known. Not hard for at least one club out there to get some data analyst to just analyze penalties for patterns like this. Surely something like this would've come up.
  14. Its mostly the Mendes link helping Wolves here. its how Wolves are able to attract talent above their station.
  15. The vast majority of his appeareances were of the bench for them. By minute, his non-penalty goal and assist returns were very impressive last season, with only 4 players having rates(Felix, Dembele, Vinicius and Benzema). I'm not saying he's worth 50 mill, but he's clearly a lot better than his goals per appereances stats suggest
  16. Because he’s not that highly rated anymore. This isn’t the same Ismaila Sarr from 3 years ago where he originally got his hype.Watford fans were snapping our hands of for that fee.
  17. There is pretty much no chance of us ever selling Digne or Ings for what we purchased them for. Even finding a buyer would be difficult as only the top clubs would be willing to pay them the wages they are currently on.
  18. I'm a bit concerned as to why he's barely played this entire year though. Played only 3 games for Boca Juniors this year then after his move for Antwerp, only played another 2 games.
  19. I noticed he's picked up an abnormally large amount of yellow cards throughout his career. Already two red cards to his name and he's only 19.
  20. That was a fair criticism of him last season, but this season he's not-penalty goal rate is good too. He's already gotten as many non-penalty goals this season as he did last season. At the rate he's going now, he could conceivably get 20 goals in the league this season with 15 of those not being penalties. Assuming no playing time bans and all,
  21. Heaton was pretty alright for us in the middle of that. Too bad about the injury.
  22. Imagine having a player that’s attracting interest from Bayern, Inter and United and only wanting 10m euros lol. i know his contract is up but I’d be shocked if he goes for anything less than double that.
  23. Its more like 5 years. Its quite rare for a PL club’s main keeper to be above 35 years old. In the past 5 pl seasons, I can find only 2 keepers have been their club’s main keeper and been above 35 (Fabianski and Foster). edit: I forgot about Reina. I think he was about 36 when he played for us. Not sure if we should count him considering he was kind of like an emergency loan.
