  1. They finished 18 points above us so 6 wins. How many games did we have Steve Bruce? How many games was Grealish out?
  2. Wolves only scored 47 goals last year and came 7th. If Grealish gets 6-8, mcginn 8-10, el ghazi 5-10, mings 2-5, hourihane 2-5, wesley 8-12, kodjia 6-10, Hassan 5-10, jota 5-10 and Guilbert, Luiz, nakamba, Engels and targett chip in with a few we should be fine. I've looked at the last few years and if you score over 40 goals you are almost always safe.
  3. We need to come up with a song about our magnificent window including all 12 signings, giving Jack a payrise, extending mcginn and getting rid of unnecessary players.
  4. I hope we do sign another player. As others have mentioned we are quite light up front and on the wings. Hopefully Smith saying that is either a negotiation tactic or just villa simply not wanting to get our hopes up. If necessary we may have to look at the free agent market and try and low-ball sturridge if possible. I really don't like him and he probably expects 60 grand a week but if we could try and Convince him to take a 'hometown' discount if you will and get it down to under 20 he could be a good signing maybe have a hefty appearances and goal scoring bonus. Maybe 20 appearances and 5 goals gets him half a million. (Equivalent to 10k per week)
  5. El Ghazi. I think he had the highest potential aside from Luiz and I'm not certain how long we will keep Luiz. I think if el ghazi was more aggressive in taking shots on he could score 10+ goals this season. Whenever he shoots from outside the box I think it is going in and if it doesn't that keeper has had to parry it back into the danger zone. I would also let him take free kicks when hourihane isn't playing as knuckle all free kicks are virtually impossible to save when done properly and I think el ghazi has the ability to do it.
  6. He broke his hand I think. He chooses to keep wearing it either because it is a lucky charm or 2 because he thinks it will help prevent a sprain/twist or break in the future.
  7. Yeah me thinks kodj will pass the ball more this year. He has played for crap sides most of his career including us. Him playing in a better side should let him release the ball earlier. Every where else he has played. If he passed his team lost the ball. So he may as well have tried to create for himself
  8. Only because Luiz is wins as many free kicks as mcginn and is a better defensive midfielder than mcginn/hourihane. Against a top team we may need a brilliant free kick taker as shown against Leipzig. If benrahma can fill this role then excellent but if he can't then I personally don't see much other option than starting hourihane. Hourihane is brilliant playing further forward where he can get in better positions to play the final ball or shoot himself. When he plays dm I think hourihane gets in his own head because he thinks if he loses the ball then the opposition will be through on goal. Also imagine playing a fresh mcginn in the last 30 minutes of a game that would be brutal on a team which has a full press as they can no longer rush mcginn and he will be popping up everywhere.
  9. El ghazi couldn't find many gaps because there weren't realy any when he was playing. Leipzig were doing a full team press for most of the game. El ghazi started playing a lot better once they stopped and after he got injured Hassan came on and took advantage of a tired team no longer able to full implement their defensive scheme.
  10. Not to ruin your hope or whatever. Kevin Durant tore his achilles and walked off of the basketball court. Which is arguably the most serious Injury you can get.
  11. Yeah it looked like he scored a few from set pieces. Hopefully he is good enough where we don't have to at hourihane purely for it. Once we have Luiz against a team like City or Liverpool I would play hourihane over mcginn because I think we will only score from free kicks but if benrahma is good enough we could keep mcginn on and win about 20 free kicks a game.
  12. Look there can be multiple gods. McGrath has just passed on the mantle.... Needs to start with M though.
  13. I mean if your coming to villa you can't bust ignore mings.
  14. Yeah but if you look over the game el ghazi was playing against a lot more energetic team. Trez came on and had a relatively easy time of it. He wasn't worried about being swarmed and was playing against tired legs which sometimes gives you an extra half yard. As @Sulberto21 said el ghazi had a pretty good run and cross right before he got injured.
  15. Yeah as the game got easier as either Leipzig grew tired or eased off to prevent injuries to themselves. El ghazi came off as he was growing back into the game. I hope the injury isn't anything serious and just like a dead leg or a slight strain.
  16. Agreed 10 wins is worth 30 draws. I'd rather lose 2/3 would be draws and get the win in the last 1/3. Getting wins is better for morale than losing is bad and draws probably won't impact it much unless it is against a really good team I'd rather we go for those points.
  17. You have got to remember el ghazi was aying against a fully pressing Leipzig side whose full backs were full of energy. It also seemed like el ghazi put in a couple of decent balls in. There was a lot more space when trez came on. Obviously trez looks class but I would still start el ghazi. I think it will take an adjustment period for el ghazi, trezeguet, jota and mcginn. All of them aren't used to the having little time on the ball every time they receive it. With trez he will likely have to cut back on nutmeg attempts. Target also looked a little slow but hopefully that is still rust where he didn't play much for Southampton.
  18. At keast according to fifa trezeguet is 2 footed as he has a 5 star weak foot. Also from the videos I have seen of him he seems to score with about the same frequency on either foot and I thought some of his best highlights for kassimpasa came from the right wing. I think if we ay both him and el ghazi they will cross over regularly to prevent the fullbacks from getting a read on them. It is what the best clubs do.
  19. I haven't kept up to date with everyone else's windows with what we've been doing. If Son is out then I think we have a really good chance at beating spurs. I would still be worried about sissoko because of his pace and strength plus their new defensive midfielder as well.
  20. Yeah but he is as good a manager as Steve Bruce. Big Sam is just Steve without a broken nose. If you want Steve Bruce's transfer policy back you can go and support Newcastle and when they get relegated you can come crawling back and apologise.
  21. Sadly your opinion doesn't make sense. Of the players that we released only 2 were even close to good enough for championship football adomah and whelan. Of those 2 we have found 2 suitable replacements for each of them. On top of that both of them were liabilities in games against the top teams in the championship whelan because he was too slow and adomah because he was crap. Maybe we could have stuck to 1 player at each position and not brought in konsa, trezeguet and nakamba. But then if we got an injury we would be playing elmo right wing and hourihane at defensive midfield which he is no more than a 3rd stringer for (he is good enough as a backup in attacking roles)
  22. Yeah on here we are a nice honest thread. We only bully SGC and Delphiniho
  23. Engels is the starting CB with mings konsa and Hause are young and potential signings. Plus I reckon only Engels, mings, and Heaton (wesley too but he is young so...) have wives or serious partners and are much eless likely to go out on the piss so they are more likely to hang out with each other and form a good bond. Then it is Luiz over nakamba for me. Against spurs you don't need a hard tackler you need to keep the ball and someone to nip in and draw alli's anger (known to have a temper and get carded) which I think Luiz would be best at. Winning the ball and taking it past him and drawing the free kick. Then for me it is Jota vs Trezeguet. I would give trezeguet a slight edge because he is quicker and stronger and can support guilbert/targett with spurs' fullback. And he can get back upfield for the counter. Plus it allows us to bring Jota on when the defence is tired. Which will benefit jota more because it will give him the extra yard to get past the fullbacks. The player I'm most worried about is son because I think he is spur's best player followed by sissoko/wanyama/dembele as they are large strong and fast midfielders who may be to physical for Jack and mcginn. Sissoko specifically because I think he can run with mcginn and is fast enough to recover if Jack gets past him.
  24. Not to be rude or anything but I would not have kept whelan. He was one of our main reasons for Conceding last year. He was so slow that when he closed a player Down they could easily pass around him with 2 players and they would have a clear line at our defense. Plus he had 2 or 3 crap balls in him per game which could screw us over. Nakamba and Luiz are both superior options and if hourihanes been working on his positioning then he would preferred as well.
