  1. i honestly dont see us getting automatic promotion, i think this season would be a success if we get in the playoffs tbh, i think our poor start under SB hurt us a lot.
  2. might not have a choice is Taylor is injured?
  3. not defending SB, but i get the impression El Ghazi and Bolasie werent remotely fit when SB was here, it seems DS has worked them both hard to get them fit. Whether SB would have ever played him even when fit, ye....i prob believe he wouldnt even then.......
  4. yeah, if we cant buy to improve, ofc we need some cover, i just meant ideally if at all possible we should buy to improve, but i do see ur point.
  5. Barbet is on the bench for Brentford, would he actually improve us?, and by improve us I mean be the man to make CB or LB his own and really be a long term player in that position???
  6. I think he's too busy looking at Nyland and thinking to himself "Holy cow is this guy made of wet paper or something my grandmother has.......oh oh oh a goal oops didnt see it"
  7. at least it looks like im going to get my way now after that Kodjia cameo.........aka Bolasie and El Ghazi our shoe in wide men
  8. I might be mis observing, but I'm fairly sure abraham scores when he doesn't have time to think about it, literally as soon as he has a split second to think about it he usually misses.
  9. the really beautiful thing with this game, is a team who were in the prem last year (WBA), we went to their home stadium, played well, should have won, had multiple chances and a draw feels like a loss. Lets take that as a positive, under another no named manager we would have all expected a loss, and been jumping over a draw
  10. for everyone saying "if we lose promotion by one point i will be mad" etc etc etc, WE didnt score our chances, its our own fault, we cant always control what refs/other team do, we can only completely control what we do. In reality, we didnt win because we didnt do what we needed to do, ie: take our chances, if we did what we were meant to, we would have been chilling. regardless, well done villa, looking good and would be better if we finished our chances.
  11. Something i have thought a bit for Abraham, part of me thinks he is great, but also part of me thinks he misses a LOT of chances, like....a LOT. Part of me wonders if a striker who can finish better would be getting even more goals for Villa. Not trying to be negative though, we deserved to win....but also, we didnt, so we didnt, you get what you deserve rly, we had the chances to put it to bed.
  12. im actually a little surprised that Elmo was dropped to the bench, i thought he did well vs Boro
  13. i suppose slow doesnt matter too much if they are sitting fairly deep and hitting us on the break like they did vs Leeds?
  14. Baines?, really? Old, slow, will get turned over with a high back line while we press up field, no long term benefit, have we learnt nothing at this club???
  15. So, back down to earth does anyone have any opinions of who they think we will actually sign?, rather than what we hope? would love to know who they are actually looking at.....
  16. Mellberg was a rock, him and Laursen were amazing for us imo.
  17. Am I correct in my belief that his contact runs till mid 2019, but villa have the option of a 1 year extension to 2020 if we want it?
  18. I am really interested to see which players we go for this Jan, would absolutely love to be a fly on the wall when they are discussing their probable targets for Jan.

I'm not sure about that, I agree he doesn't have the killer instinct in front of goal yet, but hopefully he can develop that. In terms of on the ball, I saw him a few times last season and was really impressed how good he was in terms of intricate little passes and moving with the ball, I think he would suit a DS style really well, unless I was imagining what I saw.
  20. I believe this is Chelsea's "shed" that you are talking about:
  21. I wasnt commenting on Grealish or McGinn who i think are both good players, my comments were a broad comment about the last number of years.
  22. I'm not anti loans per se. I agree that bolasie, Abraham, El Ghazi & Tuanzebe are good for us right now, but in a long term view they are an indictment that we dont have players that good or developed our own players over the longer term, and the fact we are in the championship indicates poor board/director/club/managers/coaches etc etc etc over a long period of time leading to our demise as a club, i would argue one rung on the ladder as part of the wider whole is the poor decisions made leading us to be in a position where these loans are a) better than what we have at the club and b) we havent developed our own or bought players of suitable calibre for us not to be here in the first place. Ofc the argument is much wider and deeper, but i do think one spoke of the wheel that led us to where we are is the poor signings/development or lack of players who are/were good enough to keep us up towards the top of english football. Obviously there are prob another 50 spokes on the wheel....so ye, dont take my comments in isolation, they need to be considered as part of the many spoked wheel that has rolled us in to a sh*t storm that it looks like we might just about be starting to turn around thanks to someone finally realizing how short sighted and backward we have been as a club for many years (purslow/DS/et al). So in closing im not anti loans, im more anti the wheel and all the spokes of that wheel that have led us to where we are right now, in the words of Khaeesi (aka Dean Smith) - "im here to break the wheel" So i say...."take a hammer to that wheel baby (DS), im right with u" P.S - obviously DS isnt as hot as Khaleesi, but im sure he's a better head coach!
